Welp, River is knocked out of the Arg Domestic Cup 1-2 due to a Slippy-G-esque moment gifting Tigres the gamewinner. This leaves JA with 2 Copa Libs group games in May, some likely int'l duty in June and finally 2 Copa Libs knockout legs just before he's free to join City July 7th.

Surely he needs 3 to 4 weeks off then? So it would be August before he turns up at training and September before we see much of him.

Maybe our friends from Argentina can help: is this week’s Libertadores game supposed to be his final game for River Plate? It’s the last group stage game and I assume we would want him to have some rest time before pre season instead of playing non stop until the end of next season.

Been more impressed with Enzo Fernandez (rumors of mild interest from City in the player) than Alvarez the last couple of months. Still, he definitely has quality and the skill profile to do well at City!

It’s hard to judge a player who has been sold and still plays for the old club, but his performances the past few months wouldn’t have gotten him sold for us, simple as. The sooner he moves out the better for his chances

Agreed. I think is just the simple fact he's head is already at City. Too many changes and a huge step up for him. Hope he comes hungry to pre season and delivers a bit of what everybody is expecting.
