Heres his first full interview, as some posters have mentioned here before, what stands out in this as well is the word "Motivation", he seems to have the hunger and desire rekindled in him

You can see the guy who believes in himself.

PS. how shit was that question - "Do you want to make as big history here as other ex Man City Brazilian players Elano and Robinho?"

Robinho and big history in City?

It was funny to see his smile of disbelief and read his words - "I want to make much bigger history than them."

What else could poor guy say..

At first, when I heard we were going for Maicon, I could only help but thinking, "what the fuck?" But the more I thought about it, I realised that this could be a very astute signing. Ask most Inter fans and they'll tell you he's still one of the better attacking fullbacks in the world.

Okay, he's not as fast as he once was but his attacking ability has not left him. Let's not forget that Kolarov and Zabaleta are slower than him and if they can still fire all those crosses despite their lack of pace, then I can imagine what a motivated Maicon could do as he would be the best crosser at the club.

He's comfortable in possession. Not many fullbacks are and the best ones tend to share this trait. A player like him isn't restricted to the flank and can easily slot into midfield and attacking positions to help build an attack.

I think he's a bit like Kolarov with better crossing, passing, dribbling, and a knack for making things happen on his day.

Sometimes our RBs (and LBs, but mostly RBs) squander too many good chances, or make the wrong choices when in the right positions. I think a seasoned vet like Maicon could really make a different when called on, and help teach our developing players like Richards.

I'm pretty sure he is still much better than any of City's fullbacks, including Richards.

For 3 millions and wage reportedly significantly less than 80k he had in Inter, it was a no brainer really.

Having him to be in team for Richards to become even better alongside him is worth that money alone.

"as popular as robinho and elano'

good question as they were both immensely popular when here

Hopefully some of his experience and attributes can help Richards to really push on and establish himself.

maicon is on the same euros 4.5M after tax a year as he was at inter. i'm not good at math but that should be something like £140/150k a week

I don't know, when he signed there were reports that he accepted significant wage cut from 80-90/week he head in Inter or maybe I didn't understood and it was that he's on that wages now after taking a cut.

I could see him taking some cut for Mancini's sake. He's one who bought him for Inter and it could be his way to thank him for that. I don't believe City signed him with that kind of wages (15ok), few years ago maybe, nowadays I doubt. Though the transfer fee was low so.. never mind anyway, still great signing.

oh, really, I could swear it was history one.. but anyway, still don't think it's great question, Robinho's saga was barely positive behind it's symbolic, doubt anyone would like to finish like it.

Will be a good signing, as long as he is happy being a squad player. There will be a lot games this year and everybody will get their chance. Richards is injury prone, and it also means zab can cover other positions when needed.

Funny that SSN are having their obligatory pop at us by highlighting the game when Bale ripped him.

tbf, i think Bale should've just retired after that game, because that was the peak of his career.

Good one!

Not really...especially Argentine's speaking Spanish...

Looking forward to having our staff get him in top shape as soon possible!

Maicon was asked what will be his main factor in the Premier League and he answered his speed so he must still be fast hes 31 not 36
