The weekend showed why we desperately need him. We had no leadership in defence, lacking technical quality. All of which led to huge gaps in front and behind the defence.

It does seem to be something that, broadly speaking, we get fairly right as part of our recruiment. You'll always get someone who slips through or someone who is worth taking a chance on regardless, but it feels like we've had a very respectable group of lads under Txiki and now Hugo.

It is clear that personal qualities and behaviours are as important as football ability when it comes to our recruitment strategy.

15 days since Josko broke his leg. Really impressive from Viana and the executive team to convince Guehi, and get the deal done in that amount of time. Funny thinking back a week to all the people saying "move on he's clearly not interested".
