in all honesty im not completely confident in what fergies done this summer, and i have a feeling its gunna go tits up but untill it does you'd be mad not to trust fergie

who would of thought that when van nistelrooy left ronaldo would turn into a 30goal player?!?!

fergie has a knack of getting this kinda thing right but yea im more than sceptical this season

city signings...

barry, good signing, not excellant at anything but hardly does anything wrong, mr dependable to let ireland affect the game in better areas

tevez is quality, he is scum in my eyes, but a great footballer, wont score you 20 goals but he will bring alot more to the table, the whole team was lifted when tevez was on the pitch

dubious about santa cruz, to pay that kind of money for someone who has only ever scored more than 5 league goals once is a gamble to say the least, and thats without mentioning his injury record

and im not a fan of adebayor at all, the clue is the fact arsenal fans arnt bothered hes gone, and no other clubs came in for him...he has the ability to be brilliant and awful all within 5 minutes lol

as for ronaldo he was simply the best player my two eyes have ever seen, he had 0% likeability but the man is special, cant deny him his dream though and i wish him all the luck in the world, we will miss him alot

Fair (and constructive) answers ....... thanks for answering.

It's hard to understand what went on with Tevez behind the scenes at your place ..... the player and the manager seemed to have differing viewpoints , the Glazers said nothing , and the players agent was constantly in the news ...... but Fergie could never say for sure during the season whether or not Tevez would or wouldn't be staying , only that it would be taken care of at the end of the season ....... maybe the clubs owners went back on their word , or had an input into his release .. who knows?

one thing that sticks out to me, is we said the we would take care of it at the end of the season, and by all accounts we offered him a contract, later than he would of liked, but true to our word...

the issue i dont think was the contract but the playing time, or lack of in big games tevez thought he was getting

one thing is for sure, theres no way fergie only ever spoke to him once in 2 years...in my memory i cant remember many people speaking bad of fergie as a person, aside from his managerial decisions, and he generally maintains a good rapport with the players, so i find it very hard to believe that fergie never spoke to him...

so for me that brings tevez's story into doubt some what...

sorry but it has to be......................................................................................................

My God , your OP took me back , back to the days of sensible football discussions with united fans. You just dont hear this kind of normal football fan banter from the majority anymore, success has given you lot some kind of misplaced sense of superiority which is ridiculous.

Anyway I'm pretty gutted that the top4 in England have not strengthened in any meaningful way. We are losing the best players to Spain and that's crying shame for our league. I hope City can reignite the game , we are spending lots of cash and keeping most of it in house.
Nice to hear people looking forward to the challenge we are gonna present

As you seem like a refreshingly objective rag, I'd really like to know your honest opinion of the Owen signing

as some of you will know im a red and ive posted on here sensibly for a bit now, so ive only just racked up the 50 posts required to make a thread

and I know theres already a thread on this but i thought it fitting that the first thread ive earned was about the billboard because i think its genius, not bitter, or small time but quite the opposite, its a statement that you are our rivals in every sense and mean business and i personally love it...

been one of many united fans actually from manchester(yes we do exist, shock horror), i enjoy and relish the rivalry and banter with city and i think this poster sums it up brilliantly

i was saying to my city mates yesterday i would love nothing more than to finish 1st and city to finish 2nd this season just because it would be that much more exciting than having a title race with chelsea, even liverpool...

before any of you come in here with your rag posts ive heard it all before and its boring, if you've never discussed football and bantered with a united fan then i wonder what you've been doing with your life.

so good luck lads, and may the games really begin!

i think the jury is out on owen he might come good but with his track record i would wager he`ll be out for good part of the season. the kids are just that mostly unproven, and with giggs, scholes and chuckle another year older that wont help your cause, the ferguson of 5 years ago would have chopped them out and sold them off before now imo

Good post,
I had an awkward moment this morning in M&S whilst queing up paying for my dinner (in my new shirt).. theres a RAG in front of me in the que in there new top!!. I thought he was going to say something smug but he turned out to be just a normal (if there is such a thing?) rag. He said he was gutted tevez had gone and even said our kit was better than theres!!. Anyway he wished me a good day and left with me gobsmacked to be honest...
Wonders will never cease!.

Dont worry guys, I still hate them with a passion though ; )

greatest signing since cantona, im not worried about owen its valencia and the french kid that worry me... 100% top goal scorer this year...the ammount of chances we create he'll have a field day!!

no in all honesty i have mixed feelings, as we didnt pay for him theres not really anyway which we can lose, and providing he does stay fit im quite certain he'll score more than tevez...the problem is if he doesnt score we may aswel be playing with 10 men

Are you a ST at OT by the way 23? If that is your real name!

i had a season ticket from as far back as i can remember till i was like 11, then my old man got rid of them..worst decision he ever made...

and since 16 i have been playing football semi pro so my saturday afternoons have been taken up most weeks although i still go as often as i can

I don't think you can lay the blame at Tevez's door.

There's no way that Ferguson would have allowed Rooney's, Ferdinand's, Vidic's, Ronaldo's, etc contracts to run out and told them that they would have to wait until the end of the season to sort it out.

And I don't think him being on loan was a factor at all. They had the first option so either they sign him or they don't. It's not difficult to imagine someone feeling unwanted in that scenario. Especially in the world of pampered footballer's where they need to be told that they are loved all the time. Throw in the fact that he was constantly getting overlooked for big games, despite playing well, and even the biggest Fergie fan has to be able to see why he was not happy with it.

And, to rub salt into the wounds, if Ferguson is to be believed and they eventually (too late) offered what was being asked and a bumper contract, then that is more fool him for leaving it so late when he was willing to pay the price. Every man and his dog knew that tevez was getting pissed off from Autumn last year. If Ferguson honestly expected him to sit around waiting for him to pull his finger out, all the while sticking him on the bench as well, then he is losing it. (I'm more inclined to think he is lying again to save face and not have to admit that they couldn't afford to keep him, but that's just an opinion).

As much as I don't like it, I think Tevez would still be at Old Trafford, regardless of what City offered, if Ferguson hadn't messed him about. You lot have to lay the blame at Ferguson's door on this one - or, if not him, the money men who have told him to go and whistle for the money to keep him.
