Well done Hughes

Are you for real, too much negative long ball in the first half, excellent apart from their second goal in the second, we have good players but a small time inept Manager.
I suppose Hughes must have coached Zabaletta specifically to give away needless free kicks in dangerous positions? I read the reports on here from the training sessions and I can't remember anyone saying that the players practiced scoring and then switching off completely as Zabs did for the second goal.

We showed them far too much respect.

After we went 1-0 down we started to attack and were completely on top. If we had played a little bit more adventurously from the off we would have won.

This approach will come eventually. We would all like the adventurous approach, but remember the Stamford Bridge adventure - I got a phone call asking what was going on when the fifth one went in.

There are times and places for adventure - never thought you could start an adventure at Anfield.

Gutted that we didnt force ourselves on them from the start, we did what we always do and waited for them to make a move before we react. That said I was happy with 80% of today.

De Jong was awesome
Superman Returned!
Lescott had his best game in a City shirt

hmmm, the tevez sub worked well, but once again our defensive organisation at set pieces was very questionable.

and it's all very well to blame zab for the second goal, but he is hughes' signing and his pick.

you're on a hiding to nothing trying to drum up support for hughes right now. wait for a win.

Onouha's clearance for the second liverpool was shocking. Stick it in fucking row z....or just volley to there lad on the edge of the area. School boy stuff really.

Then Zab just ball watching....

FFS our defense is pure and simple NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!!!!

I've always said Ned should be right back. I couldn't see him make that kind of tackle for Liverpools first.

Yes. Well done MH I love long ball football. In fact I can't wait for
the Bolton v Blackburn game tomorrow.

Totally inaccurate! some excellent moves today, we were away at Anfield you know!

Agree about Zab switching off but Ned really should have cleared it out of the box when he had the chance.

All in all a decent performance and yet again i'm at a loss to understand the negativity on this board, it's fooking unbelievable!

He was spot on today..The first half we coped with Liverpool, a negative starting approach was necessary I feel, as we quieted the stadium down.. And the formation was spot on for that. I was expecting SWP to come off around half time because he was poor but instead he picked himself up second half - well done again.

First goal for them was a good free kick, but one Zabaleta shouldn't have given away. The second one was a lucky deflection for them to be fair and Zabaleta/Onuoha both couldn't have reacted to the change of direction quickly enough and Benayoun was really running in to get the rebound were it not deflected.

I feel we should have won the game but what we missed in the end was a bit of luck rather than a poor defensive performance.

Nice to see Ned and Stevie back to their best as well.. Plus Tevez, he really reminded me why I regard him as my favourite player today.
if that's Nedums best. It ain't good enough. His clearance for their 2nd was piss poor.
Fair enough, in terms of him I think it was just nice to see him play again. I really hope he comes good for us.

I think those defending Hughes have now completely abandoned rational thought and just do not want to admit they were wrong.

Before the season someone on here told me Hughes would have changed my opinion of him by Christmas - they were right, my opinion of him has actually gone down. I didn't think that was possible.

Today is only a good point out of context with what has gone before it, and today, if we had a manager with any balls, we would have taken apart the worst Liverpool side I have seen in a long time.

We waited until we went a goal down to realise that we were easily their match.

I don't think there is much wrong with the team, and accept that they are Hughes' players, but he is just far, far, far too negative for me. The players only seem to express themselves when we are behind and they are given the freedom to do what they do best - go forward. We are putting our own defence under too much pressure with the style of football we are employing.

Nigel is fucking awesome by the way. Should never be dropped while Barry remains in the side as he is much the better player (certainly at the moment).

I have no idea why we are persisting with this Hughes 'experiment' - will he, won't he be a top flight manager? Let's just get rid and get someone in who we already know can do the business. Let Hughes figure it out elsewhere.
