Easy after the match. What is the backing for Tevez had to come on and a DM had to come off? Especially when Barry is a player able to go forward, expand his passing game forward and in a measure able to link up defense to attack.

Wright-Philipps was poor and not doing the job. Him for Tevez could have gotten success.

What are the arguments then at the moment of the game and not retrospectively?

Pisspoor argument. You have no idea what I was thinking during the match and there is no point discussing it.

We had two DMs on and were a goal down. Taking off either an attacking winger or the better of our two DMs would have been a terrible decision in the circumstances.

Barry has been struggling for weeks and I doubt anyone thought he was going to suddenly burst into life and start marauding forward.

The only logical change was Tevez for Barry - if you didn't think so during the game and only do now 'retrospectively' then that's your problem, not mine.

Trying to pass it off as managerial genius (or even just nouse) is some serious straw clutching IMO.

Chelsea were after Hughes at the same point we were (allegedly)

He did nothing wrong today, infact he got everything spot on... I can't beleive after today people still feel the need to demand his head.

99.9% of people on here haven't got a clue what he's done for this club since he arrived, but those that do say he's doing a good job in what were difficult conditions. Its not a lack of ambition wanting to keep Hughes, and results havent been perfect, but still maybe some of us don't drop our bollocks at the first few games we don't win.

Birmingahm drew with us and then went to Anfield and got a point (when they should have got a win)
Wigan beat Chelsea but couldn't beat us
Burnley are beating Villa

So hardly worth slitting my wrists just yet.

At the time Barry was going forward and DeJong wasnt, at that point when your chasing a game i would usualy take the defensive option off to get more bit at the other end. I would think thats what most would do. Barry wasnt really playing the holding role today so i dont know what your on about.

at the Time Phillips wasnt making any impact and would of been my choice, and based on the comments of people sat around me their choice to. But i think Hughes saw the midfield was to congested and didnt give shawn change to get a run on, by making tevez play up front he gave space and support to SWP. and well the evidence kind of speaks for its self.

2nd time you've mentioned Barry playing DM... if you watch the match again, he was playing level and often ahead of Ireland.
