Sorry for another Wembley thread but i think this is something which needs addressing, so MODS, please dont merge, thanks.

The way that City fans are being asked to travel is the M6, then take the M1 to avoid the United fans, who will take the M42, then M40 route. Last time i used the M1 was in December (west ham away) and then in early Feb. There was about a 15 mile stretch which was average speed camera and a 40 mph limit. Is this still there??? If it is, it will be chaos. It took us over 2.5 hours to get from the bottom of the M6 to the M25 ring road, 2.5 hours!!! With everything that is happeneing in London that weekend, City v United, Bolton v Stoke, Arsenal v Liverpool AND a london marathon this section fo road could add several hours onto the journey so we need to know if it is there. Does anyone know if this is the case because if it is, im just going to take the same route as the United fans, no way am i sitting in all that traffic for hours.

Cheers.

Unless City(we) get directed off the m6 at j15, down the a50 past Stoke and through to the M1 at Notts/Leicester then we will only part ways at j7 M6 where the shite will fuk off down the M42 and we carry on down to the M1(via M6). So we will be travelling together(not literally thank fuk) for around 80plus mile to J7(m42), or the plod may take them down the toll rd(J11 on M6) which brings you to J7(m42), if its getting a bit nawty and all that on the M6.

PS, if it's choxville going down the M6(upto J11) i have a toll pass from work, sorted;)

BUZZER, there is no way that they will start taking us on the A50 cross country past stoke. We will be on the M6 together then they will go onto the M42/40 and we will just carry on, to the M1. My question is mainly about all the roadworks that were on the M1 a few months back, are they still there because this will be a massive issue and bottleneck.

I know what you mean mate but if things are chocka on the M6 all the way to J7 and if there is any sort of bother then they may well decide that it would be wise to start sending us down the A50, either way it's gonna be a nightmare for the pigs). I just hopt to fuk that some muppet does'nt decide to do something silly and have a prang, you know some studentdoing 35 mph and decides to switch lanes without indicating or somert, (a woman) in her Citroen(upside down pram) and block the motorway for 3 hours.

PS, soz mate, i meant J7 for m42 not M40.

Somebody said on here a week or so ago that those roadworks were still on the M1. I'm not sure whether that will be the case by the time the semi-final comes round but if it is then you're quite right - it could take hours to get through them.

I go down M1 from Leeds (M62 right on doorstep here in Dale) to London regularly.

In fact went down it yesterday and Monday, and yes, the roadworks are still on the Milton Keynes to St Albans stretch and down to 50mph....I got through it with a ten minute delay yesterday, at 9am, and earlier the day before, about 7am I sailed through it. So is still my preffered route from this side of town come the Semi...

-- Wed Apr 06, 2011 8:17 am --

I go down M1 from Leeds (M62 right on doorstep here in Dale) to London regularly.

The M6 is fine - the only bit of average speed cameras is about a mile before you get onto the M1. *edit* although I ALWAYS go down the toll road.

The worst bit on the M1 is from J13-J10 (Bedford to Luton Airport) as it's 50mph. So what should take you about 20 minutes takes you about 30. Not a big issue, really.
