Wembley Trip, M1 Motorway.

is anyone else going by train? if so, if the match goes to ET and pens we could be in there till about 8.15, last train back is 9.00.... and it takes an age to get back to kings cross. I live in lincolnshire by the way. anyone else thinking of similar things ?

FFS what a load of drivel! Scum will take the M20, then the M25 or plane from Dublin to Heathrow, what's the problem!

I go down M1 from Leeds (M62 right on doorstep here in Dale) to London regularly.

In fact went down it yesterday and Monday, and yes, the roadworks are still on the Milton Keynes to St Albans stretch and down to 50mph....I got through it with a ten minute delay yesterday, at 9am, and earlier the day before, about 7am I sailed through it. So is still my preffered route from this side of town come the Semi...

What time would you recommend to set off from Bradford to get to the semi in comfortable time?

I travel down regular best ways over tops to M1 it doe,s get a bit slow through road works after milton keynes but still find that the best route, hoping our coach goe's that way(if police allow) if i was driving that would be the way i'd go and i'd be setting off early to be on safe side.

For those driving down...... http://www.frixo.com/maps.asp is good for highlighting hold ups / accidents, you can access it on a smartphone browser no problem.
I find the estimated time for car journeys from google maps are usually pretty accurate.

I drive down there every sunday night and yep they will be there till 2013. it is usually fine though when its bad, its bad and being stuck at 50 for so long does my fooking head in.

Think you might find, unless somebody can show me otherwise that the advised different routes for the City and Yoonited fans is for coach travel. The Traffic Commisioners must be notified by coach companies travelling with fans and will be advised of their route to avoid confrontation at services.
I'm going M6, M42, M40 and A40 In my own car with 5 friends and family, parking on a booked driveway 10 minutes from Wembley near the Green Man Pub.
Those making their own way can do as they please, there just won't me much back up at the services!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for another Wembley thread but i think this is something which needs addressing, so MODS, please dont merge, thanks.

The way that City fans are being asked to travel is the M6, then take the M1 to avoid the United fans, who will take the M42, then M40 route. Last time i used the M1 was in December (west ham away) and then in early Feb. There was about a 15 mile stretch which was average speed camera and a 40 mph limit. Is this still there??? If it is, it will be chaos. It took us over 2.5 hours to get from the bottom of the M6 to the M25 ring road, 2.5 hours!!! With everything that is happeneing in London that weekend, City v United, Bolton v Stoke, Arsenal v Liverpool AND a london marathon this section fo road could add several hours onto the journey so we need to know if it is there. Does anyone know if this is the case because if it is, im just going to take the same route as the United fans, no way am i sitting in all that traffic for hours.

Cheers.

Do you have a source for your information? I haven't seen this anywhere but haven't really looked for it.

The first thing that strikes me is why bring the rags in from the west (M40) when that is our allocated end and why take us in from the eastern side (M1 and then in towards the eastern end)? This would mean that after the ground the fans will have to cross each other to get back to their transport. The whole idea is completely logical but only if done the other way around.

Our coach leaves Warrington at 9am and have been told no booze on the coach looks like we might just make it to wembley for a quick pint

Took me 4 hours this morning with one quick coffee stop, bit slow through the roadworks on the M1 at St Albans, even though it is a 50 limit was down to 20 and 30 for some bits..
