We're still favourites - WHY?

If it is not for statistically underachieving after the first 11 games, and other teams statistically over-achieving, then we are reduced to beauty pageant judging, the prettiest always wins. It's nice to finally be judged not on our achievements, but the size of our knockers.

I've just watched the Fernandinho clip again, I don't know why, but it reminded me of the middle 60s with the introduction of Bell Summerbee etc.
Something really special could be about to happen, perhaps the bookmakers agree. This is why we are still favourites.

I don't believe in such nonsense. For that reason you won't see me having a fit if we lose at Old Trafford or the Emirates this season.
Whether you believe in it or not, it's simple arithmetic that if we do better in games this season compared to their equivalents last season, we will pick up more points.

If you compare those games, at home we lost to the rags and Norwich and drew with Everton. So we're 8 points better off.

On the road, the two really bad results have been at Villa and Cardiff. We won at Villa last season so that's 3 points dropped and if you equate Cardiff with Reading (both Championship winners) we dropped another 3. But we played an already relegated Reading whereas we played a fired-up Cardiff in their first home PL game. We led in both games so our results were definitely very disappointing.

But we only actually dropped one point at Chelsea, in a game where we played much better than the previous season, and did no worse at Sunderland and Stoke. We also won at West Ham, after a turgid draw last season. So there's really only 2 games where we've had significantly poorer results than last season and 4 where we've had significantly better results.

(By "significant" I mean a 2 or 3 point swing.)

All very interesting mate, but we "significantly" lost the title last season. Fortunately, the wheels have fallen off at the swamp, but nevertheless just saying we are doing better than last season (which I agree we are) does not mean that is necessarily good enough.

Lost the title because United got 89 points. No way they get that this season, so that's not a decent comparison. If we pick up 4-5 points on last season and end with (say) 82-83, we have a good chance. So being 3pts ahead on equivalent fixtures is very relevant.

Seriously mate..we have to win tomorrow. I am quite confident but worse case scenario happens..then what??all for an extra two games in the cl and a few million quid?

We have to win every game because the investment in the squad demands that but we wont and no team ever would do that.

The league is won and lost over 38 games and not 11 and it wont be until the end of May before I make a final judgement on Pellegrini. Ive said earlier that as a fan its all about the league for me but as a club, I realise its all about the CL and the difference in winning the league or finishing 2nd or 3rd is fuck all from a financial point of view and the result is the same....CL football the season after.

Bob failed consistently to get us performing in the CL and it paid for him in the end, as it has done previously in his career.

So far Pellegrini has taken us to the next step in the CL and come the end of May, could well have delivered another league title and possible domestic cup success as well so we should just wait and see what happens as he isn't going anywhere any time soon.

Its November yet far too many on here seemingly have written the season off and its ridiculous imo.

Utter shite, If Pello had the same groups as Mancini we'd be out, no question. Bayern beat us at their ground a couple of years ago but they absolutely spanked us at ours this year. There is not a cat in hells chance of us winning the CL. Pello hasn't brought anything to the team except a leaky defence. You also mention Mancini's lack of success in the CL, true but WTF has Pellegrini ever won? We have the best squad in the league led by a muppet with no CV. When the home form starts to go the same as away I'll let you start the Pello out campaign.
Miserable moaning twat. Get behind the team and stop whinging. We don't have a divine right to win the league every year. (unlike utd)
