We're the 11th richest club in world (based on revenue)

Confusion?

This is what I read... we're 9th...

Manchester City moved up nine places to ninth on Deloitte's European football's rich list with a revenue increase of 44% to £125m.

The figures calculated by British accountancy firm Deloitte in their annual review of finance for the year ending 30th June 2010 showed that City were the biggest climbers and billionaire owner Sheikh Mansour is now having a big impact in the club's standing within European football.

However the Eastlands outfit still sit behind rivals Manchester United, who are third, while Arsenal and Chelsea are non-movers in fifth and sixth spot respectively. Liverpool dropped one place after missing out on Champions League football, but they are still ahead of City in eighth position.

Tottenham climbed three positions to 12th on the back of reaching the Champions League in 2009/10, while Aston Villa sit in 20th place.

Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona remain the world biggest money-makers as they sit first and second, respectively.

Love it.....

The Sun go with the headline 'OFFICIAL: UNITED RICHER THAN CITY'.

Well yes, higher turnover, sure. But the owner of one of those clubs has spent roughly £1billion on the team in the last couple of years, is personally worth around £15billion and his family is worth approaching £1trillion.

The owners of the other can just about afford the air fares over from Tampa and had to sell off some of their shopping malls last year in order to pay the gas bill.

We know which one we'd approach first if we wanted to borrow £50.

Haha, this is brilliant:

Surprise Surprise
Sky Sports News also tried to ramp up the excitement too.

"The teams at the top might surprise you," trailed their anchor before the news.

The teams at the top? Real Madrid and Barcelona. And the top ten are exactly the same as they were last year, with seven of them in exactly the same places.

Can't say we were that shocked about that one

is there a new kit deal fbloke?

I dont think/know if there is a new kit deal in terms of moving to a new manufacturer or shirt sponsor, but I have a feeling that the deals are to be re-negotiated to improve City's income.

Do you think Nike would ever pull rank so to speak on Umbro when the numbers start to show that as a club, our shirts have really become a global brand?

I am not knocking Umbro in any way when i ask this but surely Nike would want a Nike logo on our shirts once it did go global?

If you follow what Umbro are doing then I would say that the brand itself has a very good future under Nike.

City and Umbro are ideal bedfellows IMO.

Fair enough mate.

I think the Manchester brand for the Manchester club holds a huge importance to the tie up and i for one would be more than happy for the deal to continue.

The club has done well to increase turnover so much, but the real challenge is to get close to the £200m pa level that will be necessary if we are to flourish under FFPR.
