I wonder if Asia and Africa have big pushes against racism ?

It was an assessment of the individuals. I found and still find today there is a certain type of person (not pigeon holing all) in my opinion is more likely to be offensive. Thats all, having suffered it I would know
Myself being from a council estate, I can tell you racism was no more prevelant amongst the people I grew up with than some of the lads I was in school with from private estates.

Because I'm a attention seeking closet racist and a twat to boot.
Don't be so hard on yourself. If you're going to justify the use of racist words with "it's all about context" then you'll need a thicker skin than the one you've currently got cherub.

I'm not the one going to the other side of the world and getting offend by what someone says, which culturally means something very different compared to over here.

disagree wholeheartedly. Somewhat naive, perhaps, but not deep seeded racism.
The trouble with this debate is, in my opinion at least, is a lack of a "frame of reference"
The phrases mentioned as a word should not be viewed as a racist term, it is the manner in which they have been used historically. In the united kingdom white people have not been exposed to collective hatred due to cultural identity or skin colour. As part of this hatred the term "paki" became a reference of hate over a number of decades, but it could have quite easily been a different word.
A white, british person can not understand the connotations of the above word because they as a group of people haven't felt the swathes of hatred that the victims of that word have had inflicted upon them.
This brings me back to my initial comment. I don't believe that it is due to racist, even deep seeted, views. I think its a lack of exposure to what collective hatred and the hijacking of a word can do to said word's definition.
BillyShears said:Some Australians also still call Aborigines "abo's" - which Aborigines find highly offensive. But you keep defending the ignorance of those Australians who don't understand why "Paki" is offensive.
Challenger1978 said:Its only really offensive in the UK were the idiots have been allowed to take control of the word. Are you to intellectually challenged to comprehend that ?
You running around the world bitching and moaning at people and accusing them of being racist for no reason. Just goes to show what a short sighted fuckwit of the highest order you really are. Australia has never had historically the same kind of use for that word. Christ pom has more negative undertones then bleeding paki in Australia.

Firstly, you've called me a wanker, a short sighted fuckwit, and intellectually challenged so far in this thread. I suggest you wind that neck in before I snap it. Secondly, I'm not sure you "get" it, so we'll leave it there. You want to continue the discussion, send me a PM with your number and we'll find an appropriate time to get together to discuss it like grown ups and without meme's and glib one liners.
In case you've missed this, I've lived in Australia. I know their culture pretty well.
