West Brom (h) post-match thread

I swear if Pogba was in our squad we would be saying these performances are from players who have downed tools and want the manager out

Kdb must of had the worst pass completion in the history of football tonight. Like he was trying not to find a city shirt. Sterling is way off, rodri is crack, we’re all over the place as a team.

Yet he created two absolute sitters for his teammates. Just like he created an absolute sitter for Mahrez against United.

Cancelo's passing in the final third was awful. He's a wannabe striker who tries to shoot at every opportunity, although most his shots are miles off target.

We struggled to get past Fulham but had that 2nd goal safety due to our soft penalty so I called it in the pre match thread that it would be tight with others saying 5-0 As today was the same as every other game this season and last. No pace, no creativity, shit set pieces and toothless up front against a packed defence.

Started off slow and pedestrian...took 20 passes to move 5 yards forward etc. etc. So lethargic and just 'dull'. Cba singling out individuals. Whole team looks poor to me, lacks confidence, won't take risks. Collective failure from everyone involved.

What an odd season. After 12 games, won exactly the same number of games as Palace and Newcastle, yet still not out of the title race!

It’s like they are all waiting for something to happen and they know they’re safe until at least 75 mins. If Pep started making earlier subs maybe the others would get the message that they need to push earlier - if we’d played the whole 2nd half like the last 10 mins we’d have won that easily
I'm having some of that. The subs need to be made with at least 20 to 25 minutes to go, in games like that.

I can only think that this turgid style of football is designed to makes us better in the champions league. But that may be wishful thinking. There doesn’t seem to be any urgency or desire to win Premier league matches and no apparent logic to some of the team selections.

We are clearly being set up to be solid, conserve energy, not give anything anyway and create just enough chances to win games. If we took the simple chances we created that would have been job done.

Comparing us to previous seasons is pointless. The world has changed, the sport has changed. We’re trying to deal with that as well as we can, and often that feels kind of underwhelming.

This season was always going to be weird and unpredictable and that requires us to be mindful of context and patient with the real and fallible humans involved

It wasn`t the other players fault that he consistently dawdled on the ball or hit regular misplaced passes.By the same token the lad can have an off game ... compared to some who consistently play poorly.
True, but he’s been off for a while. He’s one of the best players in the league, if not the world. When we upped it towards the end, hey presto, here’s Kev again.

We’re slowing him down. I know it’s harder without Silva to share the load, but if we consistently expect one player to rescue us, we’re fooked. Seen it before. Where’s Kinky when we need someone to blame?
