West Brom (h) post-match thread

Simple fact is so many of our players are under performing , our big game players like Sterling,KDB are miles away from their usual form , Dinho and Aguero have been injured nearly all season and are in their mid 30's , Bernardo , Jesus and Mahrez have one good game in four , Rodri is only a 6 out of ten player every game , a plodder.
The only thing that has improved is our back four , but i think that is due to our safety first tactics , and players like Torres , Foden , Gundogan , have looked OK but are not given enough games.
Pep is a proven top manager , but i am not sure what he is trying to prove by changing five players every game , rotation ? Do me a favour players have played Wed/Sat for donkey's years , there are 38 league games , play our best and in form players , if we have to rotate save it for the cup games.

Remember in the summer when people on here said we didn’t need grealish or Arouar or another forward HA HA HA

Ake most pointless buy ever.

we already had our best CB in stones him Dias and laporte and HB were enough . Should of brought a lb or another creator instead of Ake
Ake might be needed as soon as a CB is injured but I get your point. With regards to a forward, we will never buy one till we have both Aguero and Jesus on the books. We simy can't have 3 players expecting majority of the minutes in 1 position.

Think Torres needs to start, he is the only one who is direct and seems can finish right now. Don't mind seeing Foden in midfield again and KDB pushed a bit further back.

Lots of problems to sort out but I think it will get worse before it gets better unfortunately.

The squad is not nearly as good as some make out and Pep is not managing the side well presently so its no surprise we are not the side we were even last season in truth.

Calls have to made on a number of players this season and a number of them need to be moved on at all costs and replaced by hungry , physical players with pace and football smarts.

Why do you think a single person would make the difference. Everyone has been crying for foden but he was not that impressive today and the chance he got to shoot he did the same thing as Mahrez which is cut into a man and lose the ball. I personally don’t think we have a one man problem, every one is stinking the place. The system is broken and that is on Pep to change it.

What does my head in apart from our our own deficiencies is that every team time wastes like fuck and dive about screaming for free kicks against us and the refs just let it go on all the time, and the pundits lap it up.
Even if we did manage to score near the end you know that VAR would be micro analysing the bollocks out of it to try and cheat us anyway.
Just keep waiting for it to all click and we will be ok.up the fuckin blue
He couldn't blow fast enough whenever we went into a West Brum players Postcode. Constant cheap free kicks to Orinoco our flow. We were poor but are refereed and VAR'd to a different standard from the rest.

If There were crowds in this season we would have been booed off on Saturday and tonight

Okay lets all plug our ears and clap when we’re shit. Got it
Well that would be a bit silly, wouldn’t it? To get some perspective, we certainly weren’t at the top of our game and the majority of players were below the high standards that most of us expect. We played a team that parked the bus and performed well and their manager got his tactics right. Their goalie made some crucial stops, any of which could have gone in. The goal against us was a deflection that some would consider fortunate for them, but they took the shot and it paid off. Give them credit and recognize that we could have won but for some good saves, missed opportunities and an own goal.

I was fuckin cringing watching pep with the 4th official at the end, he's lost the plot, the subs were baffling to say the least, I think he's gonna walk

You only get 3 points for a win not 4.
True - but somehow I got the impression they had a point more than us before we played WBA that is how I got the figure 4. Still a bit confused as before WBA we had won 5 and drawn 4 (19) they had won 6 and drawn 2 (20).
Anyway - I still detest being below them.

(10 minutes later) The penny has just just dropped - if they win they get 3 points, we got 1 so the net difference is 2 points, . And to think that I passed GCE maths 60 years ago.

We need to face the reality that this team is finished, we have to rebuild.

We have the basis of a decent squad, Edison , Walker, Dias, Ake , Stones, Foden, KDB but the rest for me can move on.

Our front 3 are never good enough to challenge for the titles, Jesus particularly , and for me it's time to move on Sterling, he has peaked, sell him now while is value is strong.

The greatest manager that this club has ever seen doesn't do it anymore.
I clearly wanted him sacked after Lyon but he had some cache because of his previous record. When he signed the deal, I thought maybe that's the impetus that will drive the team up but no. I may have mentioned a few times but I will do it again. This is becoming a bit Wenger'ish. Same tactics same result. Manager's fav players play despite being out of form. Outdated tactics. Inflexible game plan.
This set of extremely talented players must be doing better. I often felt that it seems Pep is doing a favor staying with us for such a long time. And i was right. He has the safest job in the world with his buddies in top management.
No team and i mean no team plays so bad in last 18 months and their manager gets the pay raise. Our's did.

Sigh.

Can’t find words. Plethora of issues. Maybe the EdS lads can show them how it’s done? Don’t know anymore but I can only sticky by the team.

Sigh.

We are making it easy for the opposition, they know how to set up and defend against us because we do the same thing every game.

Our build up play is incredibly slow and predictable,we dont get enough players in the box,we very rarely exploit width, and our final ball is piss poor or wasted.

Saying all that.......the 1000000000 passes we made, and the 80% possession we had, combined with enough chances to put that game to bed several times over.......should have been enough to change the outcome and the mood of our fan base.
