According to Sky I'm beginning to wonder if we will actually be able to put out a team!
Aguero, Silva and Nasri all sent home with a stomach bug yesterday.
Delph injured, Fernando injured.
Fernandinho + all the argies not match fit.
Thank goodness the game is on Monday!

i dont think the stomach bug story is anything to worry about; if you had a squad getting ready for the 1st game and a few players were even just a bit sick, you'd send em off through precaution, they're probably all fine.

At the very very least, Fernandinho should be fit to play. Willian played for Chelsea at the weekend, so there's no reason 'Dinho can't - unless injured obvs. He's as fit as a fiddle.

like i said before the Stuttgart game, leaving the South Americans out of that last friendly was beyond stupidity. Every other manager in the league had their south american contingent playing some part in games that weekend, except for us. Why? And for that matter, why didn't we have another friendly arranged early this week for them to play in like other teams did if it was always the plan to leave them out? especially given we've known for a while we've got a few extra days than most. It's piss poor planning whichever way you look at it.

People at the time were claiming it's far too early, a risk to injury etc etc, but other players managed it fine, some in games that were played at a much higher intensity and now it looks like we might have to throw fernandinho in at the deep end on Monday, Surely expecting him to be up to competitive standard with zero game time is more of a risk to injury than it would of been to have gave him 45 minutes last weekend?

It has seemed to be a pretty poorly organised pre-season where we haven't been able to give any game time to some of our most important players. We really could have done with another friendly midweek as we don't play until Monday.

I fear you may be right. Its been an utter shambles of a pre season no matter what Pellegrini has said. Too much traveling, poor results against good opposition and the defense in disarray before we even start. Remember the title winners can only afford to lose no more than 6 games. We cannot afford to lose this one especially with Chelsea on the horizon. Of course this being City we could easily stroll to a 4-0 victory :)
