West Ham 2016/17

Was that the strongest team West Ham could put out? If not, it's laughable that they pay little respect to a European competition when they have no European pedigree.

Astra were there for the taking. That is if Slaven wanted to win it, of course.

I can't understand any manager/club not wanting to progress in the Europa League; it's a trophy, for fuck's sake!

Having said that, credit where it's due; their 'keeper had a stormer. Easily MotM.
 
You work the whole year, specially the last ten games of the EPL to get into the Europa league spot. Get jittery every game just like we did with the Rags about to take our place. All that hype about Olympic stadium deserves European nights etc. Then you get a very easy draw. Then you fuck up a whole years worth of work in 2 games. I'd be fucking gutted if I was a West Ham fan. Atleast losing the play offs in the CL still keeps you in Europe if nothing. One night you are dreaming about reaching the deep end of the European competition and the next day you get knocked out by Astra. Chelsea and Liverpool will be up there again.

There is no excuse they almost fucked it up against a Maltese (Yup) side last season in the playoff only to win on penalties. Went on to lose to Astra. Surely you'd be more prepared for the same opponent this season.
 
Terrible result for the Hammers, im sure the fans would have wanted a bit of a run in the competition.

im sure i heard on talkshite that Payet and Noble were on the bench and played no part?

Is that showing lack of ambition or taking the opposition too lightly?

Or just saving them for us on the weekend?

Or all of the above?

Its a bit different as with Europa you have to play hundreds of matches before you even come close to the Semi finals and then you got all the big boys dropping down from the champions league in the later stages - so in that respect its better to go out early. But! we did have a opportunity to progress alot further, especially now with a bigger squad - last nights result was just terrible - yes we are missing loads of players through injury and Bilic got it wrong dropping a few last night, but that team should still have comfortably won. Young Ashely Fletcher was the only bright spark - the rest, pah. Not a great start to the season for us.

West ham should be aiming to get amongst the "big boys" there's no glory in going out early it generates money and it attracts the better players of Europe big new ground a swell of optimism and that might just burst your bubble it's all about momentum and yours just stopped
Now don't fucking dare beat us on Sunday :)

What a joke of a club you really are, binning off a respectable competition to try to get a result against little city..

I must say, its strange why english teams don't take the comp seriously when there is a UCL place up for grabs,

Anyway, how bitter you sound that your team isnt nearly as good as you think
