West Ham (A) Post Match Thread

I don't know why we cannot attract players of real quality that make us feared again.

Maybe the DOF and Khaldoon telling us why would be a good start.

In his end of season interview he said we would bring in more players ( plural ) after we had signed Ake and Torres.

Torres maybe a longer term replacement for Sane ( not anywhere near his level yet ).

if Messi was genuine we should have had the sense to know it was not going to come to fruition and have a plan b.

Bit like are game plan if we struggle and go behind we don't assert ourselves quickly enough on the scoreboard to get back the advantage.

The possession game without a strong forward press and quick movement into spaces is not going to get you a title in fact its going to get you a points total that struggles to get you top half.

Better to have pace and quick movement on the break these days or a squad that just bullies their way to wins with physicality combined with players who are clinical in and outside the box.
Who are the real quality players that you are talking about? You can not just bring players without removing players. How do you even define quality players because that sounds very vague

But how have we ended up in a transitional period? Replacing our 'brilliant team' should have been a constant, ongoing process.
This! Surely the best managers ease the old out and replace with the new , but as it happens , not wait a season then buy five players, transitioning a team is an art

Why do you think it was "one of our best away bankers" and in what way was it a weakened team?

Any team starting Garcia will lead to disorganisation, lack of confidence & concede easy scoring chances. Add Cancelo & mix Gundogan/Rodri, with a non match fit Aguero up front & it's a recipe for dropping points.

Even though we were unbalanced, weak & shit, we still created the chances to win. West Ham left plenty of gaps.

A solid team would have won comfortably imo.

1-0 at worst.

I'm certain they will.

Which is why it's so disappionting to have played a weakened team at one of our best away bankers & chucked away 2 points.

maybe the little knocks players are carrying or not being match ready then gambling on KDB it was just to much of a gamble at this stage of the season. long term and city going long in everything is maybe what pep was looking at with resting players not 100% yet ? we have to trust pep and the board because they have come up good before and will again

22 goals scored and only 2 (I think) conceded in 5 previous visits. Looks like it should be an away banker to me.
That's because your view is firmly focussed on the past. I would point out that City had won at OT once since 1974 when we visited them in October 2011, and history played no role on that day. Liverpool and United fans are the only ones that believe that the league must only ever reproduce past results. If you compare the team WHU actually fielded on Saturday you will seed that 6 of the players who started were not at the club last season. One player (Haller) who played 90 minutes last season came on for 21 minutes on Saturday. The WHU team of the season before shows even more changes from Saturday. So there is no logical basis for your view. You will also find that there were 4 differences of personnel in the City team from last year, and in the cases of Laporte and Jesus, taken with Sergio's lack of anything like match fitness, these are very significant. It's also fair to point out that a fully fit KdB played the first 80 mins of the 5-0 win, whereas this season a returning-from-injury KdB managed only the last 20 minutes. Then, maybe, it's just that WHU played much, much better than for several seasons and, to be honest, that wouldn't be difficult. So, for god's sake, let's have no more of this nonsense that we should beat them in October 2020 because we beat them in August 2019. Different teams, different day, different game.

I'm sure they will but I think we have been drifting since the lockdown & it's making the job harder.

Ooh, touched a nerve there. Not sure that 37 years from 1974 to 2011 is relevant as no players appeared in both games.
It seems David Moyes really is a football genius.

its defo the unknown and it does not feel right football without fans, maybe we just need a win and we will be off flying again. sometimes all it take is one turning point a goal or a win from a losing precision

we are injury hit and can not hide it and we should be playing better and winning more games. but you can say that about liverpool united chelsea and arsenal at the moment, so lets all pray for better things to come and the good thing is we are still in every competition
