West Ham (H) Post Match Thread

We deserved to win and we did. Good saves & blocks from Fabianski and his defenders prevented it being more as well as a couple of poor finished.

On to Saturday.

Just don’t get many negative posters on here who are complaining that it was a shit performance. It wasn’t shit. It was a tired, nervy and lacklustre showing tonight from a side who travelled to Germany in midweek and pulled off a terrific late win against Schalke; who dug deep for a tense and energy-sapping 120 minutes at Wembley to win a nerve-jangling penalty shootout; who, with one trophy in the bag, are still fighting on three fronts; who are now suffering injuries to key players. I feared the worst before the game tonight and felt that his could be a game where we dropped points. We didn’t. Not pretty, certainly not exhilarating and never comfortable - a few players still not ‘on it’ - but a grittily ‘squeezed’ three points that may, come the end of the season, prove to be very significant.

Bernie is the man atm . All rounded player. Can’t believe we still don’t a decent song for him ;)

He’s like a ninja. It’s obscene at times how his endelss relentlessness and endeavour results in ridiculous displays of skill. I frequently see him cut out a ball mid air and not only win that ball but pluck it out of the air instantly control it and forge an attack and break as if the ball was placed in front of his natural movement forward. Along with Messi and Hazzard possibly the most naturally gifted player dribbling into tight places as he doesn’t seem to have one trick.. all options are an option all of the time with him.

The all or nothing documentary.. showed me his skill level.. if table football was an Olympic sport he’s owning that. Pure tekkers mofo.

Back on topic -

B Silva is a special player as is Sterling - these two are the future of the club.

Concerns over D Silva at this point - maybe age is catching up with him.

I think we now know why Sane and Mahrez don’t get starts at the moment in the league - miles off it tonight.

KDB is still not there but the signs are good.

Zinchenko played well.

Aguero was very poor again after the final (won’t say atrocious as it riles the happy clappers).

Was it a penalty? Couldn’t tell from South Stand and not seen it since.
