It’s absolutely obvious that the squad is definitely deep enough to change two players and beat West Ham but probably not deep enough to have those two missing from United and beat them.

Because United are better than West Ham.

It’s not exactly rocket science.

No its not rocket science nor is ensuring we rock up there with an 8 point advantage. It's all ifs buts and maybes and arguments have been put fwd from both camps. me I am firmly in the camp of WH is the more important game due to rags winning. If we can do that without key players, great but that is a risk only pep can decide whether he wishes to take.

If he were to play those only one booking away and they get themselves booked (not through poor reffing), who is to blame Pep or the player?

If Gundogan starts he really needs to have a good match. Gunna be crucial we get good performances out of him or Ferny will be all used up. Still think getting another mid might not be a bad idea at the January transfer window,

Sounds like they have a lot of injuries at the moment. No excuses not winning this one.

No, I wouldn’t mess with the formation mate, although he could do, but the personnel can change. There’s no point having a squad if we’re not going to use it. Would you risk Vinny today with his injury record, baring in mind it’d be his 3rd game in a week?
I should have used the term 'personnel' rather than 'formation'.
The two players you are suggesting we should play could weaken the formation to such an extent that we end up losing the game.

Your last paragraph is surely making the point that those 3 players shouldn’t play

Get full team out apart from Sterling and The Prince. Smash 'em 6 nowt.
That makes less sense than those wanting the strongest side. You’re saying to rest two players not in danger of a yellow banning them for the derby and play the three tha are.

Must play David Silva, fundamental to the way we play. IF we can get well ahead then sub him off ASAP ready for the swamp. Wednesdays team will be very interesting

We are still worryingly dependent on Merlin to get the guns blazing. Can only hope Gundogan and Bernardo improve as the season progresses because we will need them.

Would be great to see the magician fire us up, then go off to deal with his semi.

Wasn't meant to, was simply asking who would those who say they shouldn't play blame and, my gut feel would be Pep which IMO would be wrong. As I say, arguments for and against have been reasoned, we will just have to wait and see what team is selected.

I understand your point totally, I just think that we have to trust the squad. Otherwise, I think we’ll run out of steam.

In my opinion, we have to do what we can to keep our first choice 11 ready for games against our rivals. Not because it’s united, but any of the teams around us in the league. If Squad players can’t play against a side struggling in the league, they shouldn’t be anywhere near the squad.

Still, there’s 10 million or so reasons a year and many, many trophies that say Pep knows better than me so I’m sure he’ll do what he feels is best.

It just doesn't get any easier for Moyes does it?

I actually had nightmares on his behalf last night.

I think this could be a Glasgow kiss for my fellow Glaswegian.

4.0 City

Or more.

I'd even put Muric on the bench rather that Eddie.

In fact I'd leave as many of the 11 to face the rags at home as possible.

I worry Pep will play a strong team in Ukraine cos he has a hard on for the Napoli manager and they're relying on us beating Shakhtar.

There is no point having a squad unless you are going to utilise it. Waiting until that moment of desperation to bring in a squad player and having the expectation that he will suddenly turn it on in a "big" game is a risk. Today is the perfect opportunity to integrate the fringe players to keep them involved. It also gives the chance to rest the players on 4 cards.
To play Kompany 3 games in a week is a risk, and the fact that he`s on 4 yellows should make the decision simple. Dinho is crucial to the team and therefore can not be risked. From what we saw against Soton Sane is a must against the Rags; his close control in tight areas and his ability to dribble past he defender was missed on Wednesday. I would even give Delph a break.

Ederson
Danilo Ottamendi Mangala Walker
Silva Ilkay KDB
Bernado Aguero Sterling

Saying that Pep is Pep and it wouldn`t surprise me if he starts with all the big guns. My fear is that with Pogba`s red yesterday the orders will be to even things up and ensure one of ours is also out.
