West Ham Post Match Thread

Fernando very good at screening the centre halves, almost dropping in beside them at times, which made us far more solid in terms of shape.

Result we needed but second half was pretty disappointing for me. Effort seemed to drop off again for a lot of players and we were just coasting. Perfect time to throw someone like Pozo on to inject a bit of energy into it but Pellers doesn't seem to have any faith at all in the youths

Big plus from the game was the very god performances from Mangala and Fernando

The second half was a procession. But it is still GD +2 and three points. Fernando was man of the match. Excellent. Lampard will really need to continue to work on his fitness or something so that he could give the NYCFC fans something worth while and hope the injury is not bad for Silva. I don't think it will be and all the actions taken were just standard protocol precautionary stuff if a player is concerned or having problems with his head or face. So I think he should be OK after the scan.

Five games to go and we should look to win the five games and Pellegrini should look to replicate the balance the team showed in the game.

Better from everybody really until the last 15 minutes. Good games banked for Fernando and Mangala. Worried about Silva. Pellegrini had an excellent chance at 2-0 up with 20 minutes to go to bring on Pozo for Silva and show a bit of faith in youth for the first real time in his City career. Glad we got Nasri and Dzeko instead, they made such a huge difference to the game rather than giving youth a bit of a chance in a safe game when we had Silva go off and Aguero worried about an injury. Tosser.

Aside from that gripe it was job done, though West Ham were abysmal in the first half.
Again, if they fluked a goal on the counter, the manager would have been crucified for putting Pozo in rightly or wrongly.

As for the effort, I think Silva's injury took the air out of the team.

Spot on. We're in an absolute bun fight for 4th place. Putting Pozo on would have been a completely unnecessary risk. Pleased to see a much hungrier Ya Ya today, and I'm concerned now only about Merlin. Looked bad

Our intensity was a bit of a shock to be honest, 1st half, it was like, who the heck do City think they are playing like this? Oh yeah, this is what we used to be like pre-Xmas. Then again, we can all say 4-5-1 would suit the team better. Zabba was my MOTM and really, West Ham were spanked. Feel much better now, IF ONLY YOU PLAYED LIKE THAT LAST SUNDAY YOU KNOBBERS!!

Very poor from the manager today to not get Pozo on. What are we gonna learn from bringing on Nasri and Dzeko that we don't know already?
We weren't trying to learn, we were trying to win. A 2 goal lead is not an automatic win, had it been 3 or 4 then people might have a point saying the game was won, but at 2-0 we needed to see the game out. The Silva injury completely ruined our rhythm and brought us down to West Ham's shambolic level and we could easily have let one in and made a real game of it.

Hope Silva's ok. Well played Mangala. Good first half but still looked defensively fragile throughout. Feels like we're one goal away from disaster all the time.

We were 2-0 up against a team that didn't give a shit.

We're ALWAYS going to be in pressure situations from now. This isn't an excuse not to play young players.
