West Ham - Post match thread

Easy to criticise West Ham. If they stormed forward they knew we'd destroy 'em on the break in the space behind. If they sat back they'd be praying we couldn't finish. In the end they did neither. Give us some credit for that.

no chance Hoddle said because their pitch is bigger than any other

Yes, it must be that and not the fact that Ota does this most of the time and often slides only as the last resort in a Helter skelter situation. Of which there weren't any today.

Not true actually.

We played with much more sense today often with Stones or Yaya going for the ball & Otamendi dropping off, more like Lescott & Kompany used to do.

they were two separate points. Ota likes to do his slidey stuff not always as a last resort, that's generous from you. The fact that Kompany is back fully with his commanding presence and leadership, and the fact he's class and genuine competition I think would raise their game and confidence.

thoroughly enjoyed that!

i know west ham were shite but im gonna say we made them look like shite tonight.

our speed of thought, skill levels, workrate, desire, energy, calmness, ball retention, possession, & concentration. it was all there.

we arent the finished article i know, but fuck me, we are getting glimpses this season of what the future will hopefully look like, and im liking it a lot!

Great performance tonight, especially from the front 3 and yaya running the midfield and dictating play.

It will be interesting to see how we perform against Swansea and a packed defence on Sunday. Hope we see the same movement and running off the ball in the forward positions. Also big willy c has got to keep his place now. He looks much more confident than Bravo who needs a break for the moment.

It's going to be exciting watching us play over the next few seasons with kdb, sane, Jesus, Sterling, Silva and Kun - maybe only Barca and Real Madrid have a better attacking players?
I think one of the most exciting things about this team is that it's not just based on pace. If we play against a packed defence, we still have all the guile of Toure, De Bruyne and Silva to open them up. We'll have loads of possession higher up the pitch than they were today and should eventually create the chances.

tell me I m wrong but opta think Jesus is 1st City player to both score and assist on debut. I thinks its wrong as Kun scored and assisted for silva v. swansea. Was there that Monday night.

Did he come on at halftime though, I think the guy meant started the game debut if you know what I mean ;-)

They're playing with semantics, he's the first to do that having started, Aguero came on as a sub.

I think the first ten games we looked good, sure, but in many ways we were almost like Pellegrini's City at it's best for most of that time. Then we hit a rough patch. The wins against Barcelona and West Brom were indicators of what we were capable of. Touré's return against Palace was a crucial, crucial game for our season.

For me the Leicester game was the real turning point. Since then Pep's taken a more pragmatic approach to the way his team sets up to defend, while still keeping his principles alive. Tonight was another step in the direction of being peak Barcelona. Aside from the slip-ups against Liverpool and Everton it's been looking up for us ever since Zabaleta fired us in front at the Etihad in December.

H

oddle is a wanker, he hates praising City looking for any negative, McManaman was very good tonight & even Wright had to say City were good.

I wouldn't change a thing on Sunday, let others watch & wait inc Aguero.

Your looking at the next 6-8 years from 3, f in awesome..
Jesus is adaptable and versatile (can play midfield or anywhere in attack) and from what I've seen so far his natural position looks like left side of a front three - a bit like Robinho (who gave us all a massive lift)....... but a better player. Sane also specialises in that left side of a front three position but in a more direct style. We've now got more quality players than positions available. Fantastic problem for Pep. 18 in 24 for Sergio under Pep. Delivers under the ultimate pressure.

Nevin was just as bad in the beeb website
Tossers the lot of them. The pitch size of every Premier League team is supposed to be the same Uefa CL standard. 105m * 68m. Only a couple are 66m wide (Stoke and Spurs fir example) but all have to comply ASAP. Non compliance is strictly limited time wise.

commentator on bt was fuckin disgusting, wanting jesus sent off for a tackle that wasn't even a foul, then for west hams disallowed goal saying surely hes onside.
I'm fuckin sick of the bastards, they don't even try to hide the bias

Out all evening and not even seen a kick. But great stuff, lads, and it sounds like the youngsters excelled.

Fantastic two days with everyone else dropping points.

Hoddle's stupidity is punishment for sins committed in a past life.
