Nah mate...it's all about the £££ round here ;-)

How much did Liverpool sign Carroll Henderson and Downing for again?
And wasnt John Barnes the first player in England to be paid 10 grand a week?
And out of interest when was the last time Liverpool brought a player through there youth who established a place in the team like say Richards or at least forged a career somewhere else in the premier league like Onouha Wright Phillips or Sturridge?
Or the last time they bought a player from the lower leagues and turned them into an international like we did with Hart?
Its never been about the money at Liverpool has it mate

Liverpool have a really good academy

go on.....

Thats the odd thing about academys though aint it, liverpool do indeed have a good academy so do spurs and i think so do we but out of all those academies i would be surprised if 6 players total come through the ranks and into the first team. I think suso and that young defender (forget the name) look good prospects and of course sterling if his attitude can be sorted. At spurs they look to have a few good players like harry kane and im sure THFC will expand on that to and here we have lopes, pozo, hughs and rekik who all look like they could make it but the likelihood of any of these coming through and staying and being fixtures in the first team is quite low which is a shame really.

Carroll will do (and has done) well in a big sam team. I think west ham will finish roughly in the same spot as last season, depending on if they can keep Reid from arsenal/tottenham

You'll see Ibe, Wisdom, Kelly, Sterling in and around the first team this season, all academy players plus I think you'll also see Teixeira, Mclaughlin, Yesil and possibly Dunn in cup games. Not to mention Robinson, Ngoo & Adorjan who are all on loan.

Academies, if good really can produce first team players if the setup and integration is right (and you have the right manager)

Yes we are, never been a fan of big sam before but now he's bought two of our biggest balls ups - I'd definitely buy him a pint.

Downing will do well when he's got less pressure, perfect move for all involved I think

I really don't see you as that far ahead of us now days, Liverpool a top 7 club, west ham a top 10 and catching up, Olympic stadium will push us further. How can the previous poster think we will struggle when we've kept our best players, signed Carroll, have Morrison back and there will be further signings, we are strengthening.

Last season Sunderland, Newcastle, Southampton and Norwich all finished below you, none of them will this year. Then there are stoke, villa and Fulham who could go either way.

You won't go down but you will still be in a relegation battle in the middle of April.

West Ham's got a stronger squad than all of them. I wouldn't be surprised if they finished in the top 8. BFS's underrated.

A lot of respect between our fans, evolved over the years with a few stories to tell along the way.

Many genuine fans of clubs have no problem with City challenging for trophies,

Will never forget the 87 game, what a great day even though we were shite and got relegated........again.

Im getting stick at work, but i would love Downing - him and Jarvis on the wings would cause havoc... brilliant crossers, with Carroll, Nolan in the box and Ried and Colllins up for corners/free kicks... come on youuuuu irons !!!!!!!
