I think the main point here is that they are receiving an extortionate amount of government help/public funding which makes a mockery of fair play and level playing fields. I don't think anyone has any problems with them actually using the stadium (other than Spurs/Orient) but they shouldn't be given a deal by the government that advantages them over all other clubs. I'm a Palace fan and therefore we were never interested in the stadium itself but their current deal just isn't right. An open inquiry is needed that could set the pay/terms at the going rate for a stadium like that, not a government subsidised rate.
I'd have thought you guys would have been more keen seeing as you gave your ground to the council and paid roughly 50% of the conversion costs? They get to keep 71million from their ground and only pay 15million of the 250odd million cost of the stadium.
I don't think it should mater that you aren't in direct competition with them. Fans of clubs up and down the football league think it is wrong, and many will never compete with West Ham in anything.
