West Ham United (A) | Post-Match Thread

People have different approaches to managing a game though. That penalty goes in and he’s done the right thing, in fact he may already have if it means Ake is fit for 95 mins next week or Egan-Riley has to play his first full game in front of a home crowd instead of at an unfamiliar stadium. Personally I’ll go with Pep over anybody else.
The thing is it was Zinchenko who stuffed up for their goals so it wouldn't of mattered really.

I don't think it's a trust issue with Pep, we are playing for the title and indeed it's not fair to stick all that pressure on a young lad. Imagine a young 18 year old lad away from home having to mark Antonio yesterday who's built like a train.

The only option we had really was Ake but I think he's a last ditch option because he's not 100% fit.

I think this week is the first week off we've had in nearly 2 months so we'll be firing all cylinders next weekend.

At least we have to play to win.
IIRC we only needed a draw against Luton and played for one. I don't think we mounted a decent attack until it was too late.
Go for the jugular next Sunday.
Thankfully we have a slightly better team now. :)

It was easy to see how much ferna struggled against Antonio and that was targeted too.

Moyes was going mental during the game when they didn’t bypass midfield with a long ball for Bowen and Antonio to chase, also he mentioned it after then game that that was the plan and it was working too.

The runs those two were making all game really hurt us - with stone, walker, Dias - different game altogether.
Spot on.

Sunday will be different, playing at home and having more possession should see us not get sucker punched like yesterday.

If it's a formality, then the Redshite are better at formalities than we are. I spent the week before the QPR game musing over the possible outcomes, and the one that never got an airing was QPR leading on 90mins. I think SlippyG will defend, defend and defend some more, and instruct his forwards to go down anytime and every time they get in our area! It's gonna be a nerve-jangling game.
Absolutely mate, i think if any set of fans will ever take nothing for granted then after 93:20 its us.

‘Our’. No subs was a fuck up. Those who refuse to see that are blinkered pep fan boys. The fella makes mistakes. Not using his substitutes and not blooding youngsters are two of them. He is fallible.
What sub would you make? Stick Foden in the middle amongst 10 West Ham players? We came back from 2 nil down away from home and could of won it in the end and we weren't playing a pub team. The goal was going to come eventually so why change it? The chance did come but we missed it.

I don't think any subs would of made any difference. The only sub that could of made a difference is a presence in the box like Haaland but that isn't an option this year.

The players and the team set the expectations - me and you as a fan need to hold them accountable for that. Yeah u get a "off" game, yesterday was not an off game - we shot ourselves in the foot. All in all changed need to be made. Likewise when attackers play poor - someone else comes in, that should be the standard for defenders - next game we need changes in the lineup.
Who was a better back 4 yesterday may I ask.
Ake - obviously still carrying injury
Stones - out
Ruben - out
Kyle - out
Fern - carrying a knock but generally did ok
laporte - carrying a knock but was ok
zinc defensively poor yesterday, offensively did ok.
Academy boy - perhaps although an 18 year old novice up against Antonio wouldn't go well I reckon.

So whilst I agree we should choose players in form, our options are very much limited at this time, unless you think Pep wasn't joking when he said he'll play Foden tgere.
So we can only hope our offensive players do better than tge defensive ones on Sunday, and if not, well shit happens. Suck it in and go again

Fairly upbeat this morning despite Mahrez's penalty. Always felt like it would come down to (maybe) the last game. 1 week rest and Villa play 68 hours previously. I think they're a little dangerous and maybe a bit more open which is good for us. We'll see. Its fucking exciting to be honest.

The usual suspects still wetting their knickers in here?

Regardless of Tuesdays game result we'll go into the last game at least 1 point in front, that'll do me.

Wins for WHU & Crystal Palace will put an even bigger grin on my face for the summer close season, that and the anticipation of the summer friendlies and the Viking warrior playing for us.
Nevermind the usual suspects, we seem to have been infested with lots of 'new' mardarse whingers as well.

Can't wait for next Sunday now.
