West Ham United (A) | Post-Match Thread

‘Our’. No subs was a fuck up. Those who refuse to see that are blinkered pep fan boys. The fella makes mistakes. Not using his substitutes and not blooding youngsters are two of them. He is fallible.
People have different approaches to managing a game though. That penalty goes in and he’s done the right thing, in fact he may already have if it means Ake is fit for 95 mins next week or Egan-Riley has to play his first full game in front of a home crowd instead of at an unfamiliar stadium. Personally I’ll go with Pep over anybody else.

I think he doesn't trust the kids, particularly in the back four, as he trusts his first picks. I think he can't be facing the press where he plays one of them at CB and they make a mistake. If subs are gonna come on they need 25/30 minutes in order to impose any difference they might make. I've never understood bringing on a sub, other than for injury, after 85 or so minutes.

He didn't 'blood' Foden. We had a couple of seasons where the RDAHMeedya were scribing their usual undermining articles and were clamouring for Foden to be loaned out. We even had the comparison of Sancho and Foden. Look at Foden now. I think Pep had that one right. Same with Cole Palmer!

And what has Madrid got to do anything?
So I'll flip that on it's head, how damaging was that result in Madrid?

How have our games ended since then?

Yes I remember QPR. Remember West Ham 2014? Or Brighton 2019?

You need to look at the bigger picture pal instead if taking little pot shots.
Pot shots? WTF

Anyone thinking Sunday is going to be a walk in the park IF we need to win the match are fools.

We have huge holes at the back due to injuries, first choice 11 fit and healthy we would win comfortably but a patched up team and players running on empty make it difficult. pal

Look at all the united "new superstars" over the years, how many of them are burned out before their time, largely because of being over-exposed at a young age. Pep managed Foden perfectly I think, and he seems to be doing the same with Palmer

Despite the lack of a win, one thing stood out for me and made me proud to be a blue.

I was sat in a ‘mixed seating area’ with both clubs represented and the West Ham guys noted how our supporters showed huge amount of respect for Noble in his last game, joining in with a few standing ovations for him and a fair number staying late to join in the celebration of his one club career.

Sometimes there are things off the pitch that make you proud to be a blue and yesterday was one of them.

Thank you guys !!!!

Wow, why are so many people flapping. We needed a win and a draw before the game and now we need the win. Yes we could have won but from the position we were in the point is invaluable. Losing yesterday would have been a disaster as the wall pushers would have had a big chance at demolishing the GD over two games. It was WHU last home of the season, they are after Europa League rather than the conference, Noble's last ever home etc and they are no mugs. We had at least three of the back four who wouldn't have started if everyone was fit of which two of them Ferny and Eric were nowhere near 100% and probably wouldn't have played if we had nothing to play for. We battered West Ham first and second half but they were very clever in the way they played. They were happy to let Laporte and Zinny have the ball as they knew that Ferny and Cancelo could do more damage with the their forward balls. When they broke they targeted Zinny and Bowen was making out to in runs which is how both goals came. And if Antonio had half a brain there were a couple of more occasions when Bowen was free but he never got his head up and we recovered. We were camped in their half for the second half but when you have 10 men in the area and you shoot it's hard to score. They blocked 13 of our shots, nearly a third! Take the point, have a full week to rest, can't remember the last time we had a full week, get Laporte and maybe Walker fit enough to play 90, bring in Ake at left back and we are sorted. Villa are 13th for a reason and we are top for a reason. And if by some miracle Southampton win tomorrow then we don't have to worry and we can just all enjoy the game.
Couple of other things, can anyone explain how all the coke heads get past the sniffer dogs? One threatened to chuck me over the seats all because I asked him to watch his elbows which were about an inch from my face every time he threw his arms out. And secondly why do we have such neanderthal fans who think it's ok to shout comments such as 'did you see her tits, fucking massive' at every women who passes . Utter scum of the earth.

Yeah, 18yr olds who start at game in a league cup match, score a goal and are then hailed as the new Duncan Edwards, Tommy Taylor, Dennis Law, etc, and within a season and a half have vanished. Foden was handled brilliantly. I think it did help that he was a Cityzen to start with. Sancho wasn't, and there was no 'pull' to remain! And of all our current 'wingmen' he would be on the bench at best.
