West Ham United (A) | Sun 7th Aug | Post Match Thread

Let's keep it real and grounded, it's a good win and 3 points plus 2 goals for Haaland, but it's a long hard season and nobody will give Manchester city any free points, so we will need so much more than today, and we will even lose ?

So let's not fall for any false dawns and counting our chickens, it's the pep way in we GO again next week

I don’t think they are seriously criticising, rather a comparison which confirms we did the right thing to let him go. People were asking whether we would miss his pace and his goals. The answer is no.
Exactly. The comparison was about missing one on ones, which Sterling frequently did. That, in my opinion, is a reasonable criticism of him. I can't fault his effort or what he did for us but City are obviously comfortable selling him to another top 4 side, which says a lot.

Grealish' finally ball is terrible
Rodri was absolutely outstanding
Haaland was what I expected. A true centre forward making the right move at the right time

Do not underestimate what an excellent win that was boys and girls. West ham are a very good and well organised side
Grealish was excellent, not sure what the lad has to do, he obviously follows peps instructions, keep the ball and he does it very well

Glad to get the 4th pre-season game behind us and get some minutes in the legs!

Good to see the old 2-3-5 formation coming back into vogue…at least with Pep! ;-)

Nice interchanging between the lines, coupled with some stellar ball movement.

Inverted full backs were slightly extreme, but possession meant WHU had nothing down their wings.

Rodri(go) imperious as ever in the middle of the park. Gundo was a brilliant choice of starter. I’ll leave Haaland’s goals to speak for him!

The good thing is we should be fit and ready by the time the season starts!
