Westworld TV Show

I watched the film for the first time again since I was a teenager the day before the tv show came out just to see what would be different between the two and obviously the show is FAR deeper philosophically than just the story of a robot malfunctioning and killing everyone (in the film, the Man in Black is an android - so its a good spin to have him as a human guest this time round).

In the show they mention that the last critical failure was 30 years ago - this to me points to the original film being canon.

I disagree. I think it's merely forming a link between the incident and Dolores, who we're told is the oldest and has been around for 30 years...

I liked it ....but.... Why the feck does the scientist wear glasses?

Ahh true. Maybe she will be the one to go nuts when she realizes she's been raped thousands of times.

But, in the film the destination was called Delos. The tv show has marketed Westworld as a Delos destination, and look closely on the globe in this pic. The area looks like an older part of the organisation.

Great spot that.

It does point to the last incident being what happened in the film.

Key scene for me was Dolorous talking about the Judas Steer and cattle. The man in black knows she is the judas steer that will lead all the others to fight, as she is the oldest.

The pattern on the scalp of the dealer goes back to some ancient civilizations too, I feel like lost is happening all over again

Another good point about the Steer conversation I didn't notice the significance.

Another thing I've noticed is that the mysterious pattern/symbol on the underside off the dealer's skull is also drawn in the dirt in the preview for the next episode, and also carved into the table in the saloon - though I'm not sure where I saw that.

Please God no!

Enjoyed it, looking forward to more but have two slight concerns - not enough made of the theme park side of things to set the scene (now that everything is kicking off the park won't be the same again, so we have no chance to see it as it was intended, unless.. uh oh.. flashbacks...) and secondly the rebelling robot thing has been done frequently quite recently, quite successfully too, by other tv series , and feel we all know much of where this is going already - granted none of those were set in the wild west and so far the delivery here is very good , so only minor moans from me.

Particularly thought the delivery of the auto routines, and how the robots adapt slightly with sub-routines of dialogue and actions, was very interesting and well done.

Enjoyed it.

felt very like the battlestar reboot, in tone and concept of machine and humanity.
I also expect their will be some ambiguity of who isn't and who is machine in the coming episodes.
