What are we expecting from Pep's first season?

He has a far far better squad than Hughes/Mancini had at that time. Not that you would think so looking at their performances under MP.

He will surely have us challenging. But I think the expectation would have been for him to be taking over a much better team & moving it up a level, not creating a new one from a shambles.

I appreciate the level of players Guardiola is walking into is much better than what Mancini inherited. My point was that the manager is not getting anywhere near enough out of them and the new manager has a lot organising to do. Which, given the managers quality, shouldn't be too difficult and as a result, will have us challenging

In all honesty if no new players came in pep would still get more out of the current crop and tatically we would be way better!

Width, a high tempo and players actually playing for the team instead of as individuals (hopefully)

If you listen to the press and pundits and opposition fans then pep is going to suddenly turn into frank Clark.
In the real world we're getting the best coach in europe, the best young coach I'll add, coming to us in his pomp.
Yes it'll be difficult as he gets used to us and we get used to him and we aren't suddenly going to see us turn into barca overnight but when everyone starts singing from the same hymn sheet and it clicks then by Christ watch us go.

Better planning, attention to detail, improved fitness and work rate, stronger work ethic, pressing higher up, integration of EDS players more often, dropping of players in poor form whatever their reputation or name. Expecting to finish around 4th, semis or better in one of the domestic cups. No idea if we'll be in UCL or not. Expecting his full impact not to be felt until his second season.

Look at Leicester we have to be aiming for winning the league and a cup. Can't believe anyone could expect anything less.

Bang on all of that Stanley lad his attention to detail is second to none and he will instill a confidence in the likes of Sterling and Mangala that will transform them into the talents we know they are,we will be ultra prepared, supremely fit, well organised and no detail left unturned,he will just reinvigorate the club from this malaise Pellegrini has left us in, the only thing i don't agree with you on is where we will finish next season and even though it will be a shortened pre season with the euros this summer and he won't have as much time to analyze and prepare for the season he would ideally like i still expect him to have an almost immediate impact and we will win the lrague.
