What book are you reading now / or recommend?

The Autograph Man by Zadie Smith. I loved White Teeth but have found this a real let down. It's not going anywhere despite being 3/4 of the way through it. I'll probably look at The Domino Men by Jonathan Barnes as my next book because he's my writing tutor as of Sunday!

Age of Iron - set in Iron Age Britain sometime between the two Roman invasions. Brutal, gory and very funny. It was only £1.99 for the kindle edition and I've hardly put it down. It's like a mix of Bernard Cornwell and Joe Abercrombie.
Well worth a read if you like the genre.

Join Me by Danny Wallace. Read it before.Very Funny. A guy starts his own cult. True story.

Seveneves by Neal Stephenson. About the moon exploding and giving the earth 2 years before its incinerated. How will the human race react, survive and keep going over the 5000 years the earth is uninhabitable. Really heavy going for the first 300 pages, but 2nd half of the book is picking up really nicely.

The Forever War - A sci-fi book about an interstellar war between earth and some alien dudes. A riveting read and not my usual fare. Because of time dilation a tour of duty in space that lasts months can be decades on earth and it's a fascinating to read about the changes in society over the centuries. Society changes so much that the way of life they are fighting for disappeared centuries ago. It was written in 1974 and I can't believe I've never heard of it before now. A movie based on the book has been in the pipeline for years but never materialised, apparently there is a bidding war going on over the rights and Channing Tatum is tipped to star.
