What Can We Do With Milner?

what the? what on earth are you talking about. stop making excuses for him it's January. Look at Silva, plenty more to adjust to for him I would think.

what you are seeing is what he is. a hard working defensive midfielder with decent skill going forward. nothing elite about him.

He's one of a couple of players not suited to our 4-2-3-1 formation. I'd say Yaya's another, although he's improved. Both are 4-4-2 central midfielders.

He gives the ball away so much and runs down so many blind alleys, due to his lack of pace.

For me, he should compete with Barry and De Jong at the back of the midfield. Anywhere else in our formation, particularly wide, he's hopeless.

When has Yaya played in a 4 4 2 formation recently

He hasn't since our pre-season friendlies, that's my point. We don't play that system so we don't get the best from him.

Milner clearly needs time. He's used to playing at a much higher tempo in a totally different style of team.

I'd say the tempo was one of the things he couldn't handle last night!

He was caught on the ball time and time again.

I'm not writing him off just yet, but he's not a winger and he won't get in the middle of our midfield.

Who knows though, maybe he'll 'do a Zaba'

He's a full grown English man, and he's had half a season!

center midfield, his best position. rotate him, barry and ya ya.

he'll come good next season in champ's league, when players will be rotated more.
