What does it take to be considered a real City fan?

ah come on guys, just because i havent been to a game doesnt mean im not a city fan. Jeepers nellie, its not as if i was a glory hunter when i started supporting City! Even when my fav player left and we went down to the third tier, i still stuck with the team. I feel the highs and the lows just like you all do.

What have i got to do to get your approval? i want to feel loved!

You sound like a real City fan to me.

If you're a long-distance fan and never go to games you can be accused of not being a real fan, and if you do go the the odd game, you're a "tourist" depriving the locals of a seat and pushing up prices. You're never going to get accepted by all our fans, whatever you do.

On a side-note, I've just been re-watching the first series of "Little Britain" and I can't help imagining you telling people you're "the only City fan in the village" :-)

Don't worry. If you are a City fan and you know it, that's all that matters.

I have supported City since 1970's and I had a season ticket for ~ 25 years. Started out standing in the uncovered section of the Kippax near the North Stand at Maine Road, and then got a season ticket for the Platt Lane, then the North Stand, ( I never did get to sit in the Main stand). I now go when I can to games at the Etihad, but I still feel my support is as strong as ever.

You know how bad you feel when City lose and how elated when City win, and how good it will feel if we can win the League again this year.

Keep the faith, ignore the people who aim barbs (and remember some of them could be Man Utd or other fans in disguise anyway)

All City fans welcome.

Remember a blue dominated world is what we all want with supporters from Manchester to Melbourne to Monterey (just in case that's where you are from in California)

Note - I do hope when the stadium is expanded the club can genuinely offer low price tickets and does intend to keep prices down as the club grows

I have shed a tear every time we have got relegated since i starting following them in 1995.

I have shed a tear every time we have won a trophy.

I cried when we lost the Fa cup final.

I cried when they pulled apart Maine Road.

I ran around my local pub like an 8yr old boy when Aguero scored to win the league. (not a pretty sight as i am a fat balding man of 39 years)

If i had a cat i would have kicked it to the moon when Rooney's overhead shin-er went in.

I could have crushed a grape when michael owen scored the winner in fergie time.

I have put up with endless years of piss taking from family and friends. I honestly never thought supporting City would ever be any different. But i wore my City shirt with pride!

I laugh every time United lose.

Even though i have never attended a match, i still get all the feelings and emotions that come with being a supporter.

I'd like to think that i was a real city fan though, if you would have me please?

Nah, raggier than a particularly raggy rag in the capital of ragland.

rag.

I stopped going the year s Mansour bought us,because of my shift pattern, ive been to 3 games since
city v forest 0-3
city v arsenal the game nedum got sent of after 5 mins
and city v wigan, cup final
which I got talked into ,to end the hoodoo

,id class myself as a proper blue, whose been to more home and away games than I can remember, and if I stay away and they keep winning ill be more than happy.

am thinking about a new season ticket next season though :)

Been a city fan since 1966. Season ticket holder since 1967. Lived in London for 26 years and still kept it. I cannot get to every game but try to make 15+ games at home plus as many away as money allows. Made my kids support city despite being born in London and they love it. Been on the highs - cup wins, league wins and many lows (I admit I was not at York away) but did go to Wycombe, Oxford, gillingham, Colchester and a host of others too. Traveled to Europe more recently and the trips are just awesome. I get up every morning and think about city first. At the moment I work out in my head results permutations that could win us the league. Before I fall asleep its the same. I may not be a 10/10 city fan but I think I do pretty well.

So because i havent been to a game im a rag now? Wow i had no idea how fickle some people are. Its still possible to admire and love things from afar you know :-)

Thanks for the few kind words written mind by some posters.

I shall continue to follow the club knowing in my mind how i feel. Im sorry for not being a city fan in most people's eyes.

Spelling 'city' with a lower-case 'c' is a notoriously raggy trait.

That was the exact same thing that got my spidey senses tingling :)
