What happens if we don't' get top four?

It's a battle for 4th, make no mistake. In a parallel universe, we would have snapped out of our malaise and by now be showing our true class. We would have won comfortably last night and now be serious contenders for the title again, favourites even.

But back in the real world, how are we suddenly going to change from the dire shite we saw yesterday? Are the players going to become less tired? No. Is the manager suddenly going to become a genius? No.

This, ladies and gentlemen is how our season is going to continue now, with scrappy performances and dropped points and we will be in a right old scrap with United, West Ham and even Liverpool for 4th.

I'm confident we'll finish 3rd personally. Arsenal have Spurs away at the weekend, Everton away 3 days after their Barca game as well as trips to West Ham and Sunderland and of course, ourselves.
Doesn't really matter who Spurs and Arsenal have to play, if we can't even string a run of a couple of league wins together, and the evidence over the last 6 months is that we can't, then 3rd place is incredibly unlikely and 4th place is going to be an issue. We may (in theory) have the capacity to go on a fantastic run but I don't see how anyone can be "confident" because let's be under no illusions here, currently we have the league form of a bottom half of the table team.

Well no one can say they didnt see it coming. It's been staring us all in the face for almost 2 seasons now. How the owners have let it go on so long is really baffling. We're in deep shit here make no mistake about it. Last night took it to a whole new level of incompetence . Firing on strikers nilly willy with no midfield to supply them. Fkn hell it was hard to believe if you hadn't seen it with your own eyes.

True but we have pedigree for finishing a season strongly and we've seen from how we played vs Kiev and Liverpool in the cup that we have a certain level of performance in us. Obviously we need to start showing it in the league.

We rode our luck at Watford, West Ham, and Sunderland, but sooner or later, you need to start playing well, and winning games on merit.
Yes, in theory, our next two games are against Villa and Norwich (and Carrow Road will effectively be our game in hand on Utd and West Ham)
Yes, Leicester might lose at Watford, yes, Arsenal are playing Tottenham, and yes, there's countless other fixtures that might work in our favour over the next few months.
However, at some point, we need to start keeping clean sheets, whilst dominating possession, and creating plenty of chances at the other end.
When did that last happen in the Premier League?

If we don't get top 4 the pressure will increase hugely on Txiki and Soriano, especially with Pellegrini off anyway, they will be held account for recruitment etc!!
They need their buddy to come in and transform this place otherwise they could be in trouble.

As for Pep, you could argue he could be coming with a bit more power than first thought. He could justifiably insist he wants a 70% overhaul of the squad. Obviously we want Champions league as does Pep I am sure, but to turn a negative into a positive he could well get a season where his sole focus is on the Premier League and without any Champions league distractions, we could rip the premier league up!!

I think anybody questioning wherever Pep would still come if we drop out of the top 4 should be given an automatic ban for stupidity.

To answer the question, I imagine nothing much will happen. We would carry on regardless but instead of playing on a Tuesday or Wednesday night we'll be playing on a Thursday. I'd have thought the penny would have dropped by now that this is a long term project and not a rush job.

We have a pedigree for winning two matches on the run too. I hope you're right, certainly we have it in us if we can get our shit together, I don't think anyone really doubts that.

And don't rule out Chelsea. Only 8 points away and they play us at home.
