What happens if we don't' get top four?

it will be embarrassing for us as a "big" club and for us fans as we will get a shit load of crap off other fans but it wouldnt be the end of the world for us.

If anything it should galvanise us as a club and make us even hungrier to succeed.

Well thats my theory anyway!

In answer to the question - thread title - we will be able to claim we are the 3rd best supported club (after Rags and Arsenal) in the league.
I agree, it is not much compensation for finishing out of the top 4.
Hey Ho - we need some 'Pep'.............

WTF ??????????, Im just a realist as I have been since the 70s and all those years I spent watching city in the lower leagues. so RAG you know where to stick that ;), seriously if you think just because Pep is coming that if we finish outside of top four we will attract the best players, NO WAY.....

If we don't get top 4 we will be a laughing stock.

Personally I not totally bothered in terms of the actual competition but financially and also attracting the top players it will be a downer.

don't forget also we will then be in the same marketplace as Chelsea who don't look like getting top 4 either.

I hope pep has actually signed and no get out clause is available.
Not concerned too much as I am certain Pep will come regardless and IMO a lot of his signings are going to be young hungry players hired for at least 3 to 5 years with a view to winning the CL within that period. They will not be the type that only sign for a club because they want to show off on the top stage. Within 2 years I think we will have a team which will be totally different in all respects from the current lot and which will be an actual team rather than a collection of individuals. A lot of his purchases will surprise people and will be in the 20-30 million bracket rather than the 40-60 million. There will of course be one or two superstars should they become available. Pep will view his first job at city as winning back the league title and trying unlike in the past to hold on to it. He would not expect to be in serious contention for the CL until his third season. Personally I believe it will be 4 or 5 years before we will win it and not sure if he will be still around as he may be back in Barcelona by then.

If we don't qualify for the Chumps League, then I'd prefer that Pep just focused on winning the title again, and treat the Europa League with indifference.

The Europa League just requires too many games and a lot of travelling midweek for our players, which we can do without.

After all Leicester are where they are because all their rivals are still in Euro competitions at this moment, without this distraction, Leicester would be nowhere near the top.

we don't get top 4.

The world keeps turning, a new manager arrives in July, a new season starts in August, and we'll ll be asking the same silly questions next season.

It's just football. Last nights result is now just the numbers 3 and 0 in the history books.

In short, who cares and better still we won a trophy last Sunday.

If we win in our game in hand against Newcastle, ceteris paribus we'll be 3 points ahead of the chasing pack. Even after yesterday we're still only 1 pt worse off. So the situation for us, Spurs and Arsenal is pretty similar.

Nothing in particular happens if we don't get top four. The manager who has been responsible for the team for the last three years is leaving. Suggestions of sacking him off before the end of the season are risible. Stock will have to be taken of the club and team's situation in the summer. That's it. Story, end of.
