What if pellegrini fails?

I wanted Mancini out for two reasons, the way we played many times, no width , no pace, most of our players underperformed last year, only Nastasic and Zabba was really good others varied between OK, avarage and pretty shit...

And also the trophies, two CL fiasco in a row is unacceptable with a squad like this. Finishing behind Ajax, and coming up with excuses like "CL is strange", "we need more world class players" its a joke...

His only way to improve the team was trough another 100m spending on top players instead of getting the best out of his expensive signings like Balo, Kolarov, Dzeko, Nasri etc...

Now Pellegrini wont face smaller expectations and probably he will face bigger ones as Chelsea could be lot stronger in the league than they were in Mancini's time.

Pellegrini has to get out of the CL group for a minimum, no matter what kind of group it is. It wont be a piss easy group thats for sure. Than go as far in the competition as we can, if we get any team except Bayern, Dortmund, Barca, Real, Juve in 1/16 finals we simply have to trough to the next round. Vs the quoted teams we should play a very close tie and if we lose out to them without being humiliated thats OK for me in the CL. These are the top 5 teams in Europe .
PSG maybe too, but would hope we could beat them with Pellegrini.

In the league its a 3 way battle, huge disaster if we wont even be top 3. Wrose managers than Pellegrini or Mancini could make top3 finish with the City squad. No brainer, top3 is is a minimum.

Given the fact Pellegrinis strong side is man management, and getting the best out of his squad which is somekind of polar opposite of Mancini, really hope we will be playing for the title and will be very close to it even if we end up not winning it.

Fighting for the title and losing it in May or end of April is one thing but being out of the title race already in February is another thing...

What would get me start thinking heavily on Pellegrini's firing would be a CL group fail + finishing outside of top3 in the league.

Hopefully nothing like this will happen and finally we will be in the CL even in February, also finishing 1st or 2nd in the league.

The only thing I would disagree with there is to add Tevez to your list with Nastasic and Zabba.

He'll be devoured by the British football media. At least he won't have his skin peeled off first...

Knowing our luck, he'll come back as a banana.

Finishing outside top4 in league = instant axe.

And Txiki can follow really.

But its the same for Moyes or Mourinho if they finish 5th or 6th. Unless some great showing in CL like a final maybe...

(To finish outside top4 two of Arsenal, Spurs, Pool would have to finish above us.
If it happens I want one of those managers at City.)

I think Pellegrini is an upgrade on Mancini tactically, also in mentality, also in relationships with players. For that reason I wait better results from him.

First year he could be given some patience, he will change the way we play radically (I hope so), he needs time, so if he brings only a 3rd place in the league and just about what he did with Malaga in the CL thats OK in his first year but would huge pressure on him to deliver something big the next season.

Also he is taking over a lot better team than what Mancini got after Hughes. Defence is really strong, best defence in the league 2x in a row. Most of the stars are used to the PL, they won it once, they know how to win it again.

We didnt fire Mancini to be delighted with about same results.

CL is a huge factor, thats where Mancini was useless, we have to make real improving there.

He won't so do not worry. The guy is borderline genius and with the squad we have/will have success is the only answer the the equation.

Can you qualify this statement with facts/statistics for a 59 year old guy - genuine question?

What success has he had in world football and what qualities does he have that make you think he will set the Premiership alight, again a genuine question.

I am becoming desperate for some kind of reassurance - call it a comfort blanket if you will.

The OP and many other posters on this thread clearly don't understand the club's new 'Holistic' model.

If 'The Engineer' fails then as the current occupant of the "Crash Test Dummy (CTD)" seat, he will be catapulted out of his position leaving the Board to chose a new CTD aka Manager, leaving Tixiki and Sorriano safe in their positions. Repeat ad nauseum till Khaldoon Al Mubarak & Sheikh Mansour realises that the 'Holistic' model foisted on them by the sweet talking Soriano is indeed a con.

Sadly it is virtually guaranteed to fail as there is no club in the Premiership (or indeed the German or Dutch leagues) where the model of the Manager being below the DOF in the pecking order has worked. Of course I may be mistaken and Pellegrini may indeed be at the same level as Txiki in which case it does stand a chance. The setup doesn't look like that at the moment though.

Pellegrini has great experience and his knowledge of Spanish football will lead to us playing some exciting football. The recent acquisition of Spanish talent brings even more excitement to the table. I'm looking forward to regaining our title this season.

We've been shite all my life so trust me Pellegrini has no chance of 'failing'.
