What Is lacking?

The only change to the lineup for the final that could have been made was Fernandinho in for Sterling and Gundogan playing more advanced.

I remain convinced that with that referee, Fernandinho would have been sent off by half time. A booking for his first tackle and a second yellow and a red for his next one.
well he didn't send Gundogan off for more than that so I don't think so. At the end of the day we played with about 8 men as a result of playing Sterling and compromising 2 or 3 other positions as a result of including him.

We're the only side in Europe that consistently changes system. UCL is about starting 11's and familiarity; something that cannot be achieved with the different shapes we play.

Spurs away in '18, Pep decides to play a 4231 formation, with players like Mahrez who weren't on good form, Lyon in '19, a 3 back which proved disastrous. Now we played with Gundogan as a single pivot (a role he hasn't played in 2 years), Sterling who is out of form and moved Foden inside. This is not how you win the CL, you cannot make radical changes on a game-by-game basis.
The team selection deflated the fans and probably the players before a ball had been kicked.
It will no doubt have helped Chelsea.

The only thing we lacked this season was a goalscorer who could stay fit. If we replace Sergio with someone like Kane, who guarantees 30+ goals, then we'll go one step further next year.

We can slag Pep's selection off all we want but let's not kid ourselves. He's the greatest manager in the world.
I think his team (as in coaching staff) need to have the balls to tell him not to fuck about.

He's the best manager in the world, but I think he's surrounded by yes-men.

Dinho knobbled Gundo accidentally in an open training session, and he was touch and go for the final, this may have further influenced Pep's decision. It could also have contributed into Gundo not being fully fit to play his usual box-to-box role, therefore playing him conservatively further back the pitch.

Probably the squad were worried and Pep wasn't too pleased with Dinho's challenge on an important key player in an open session before the final.

We don't half see some nonsense written after a bad result

Mentally we were weak and also tactically against Spurs, Monaco, Lyon and Chelsea too.
Maybe Liverpool too but there the ref failed us and also we had the bus attack.

Chelsea wanted it more and their players were given a tactics that gave them self belief. Our formation was wrong, line up changes also did not help at all (btw I think we also lose if Dinho start with Foden on left),our players panicked, and we were not effective at all in creating good chances.

I hate when we create 20 shots, 6 on target only and score one but in those games we rip them apart tactically and our finishing lets us down.

But this game was the opposite, created fuck all.

At least this season we got the CL final something we wish we had reached in last 4 seasons or with Pelle or Mancini.

I dont think Pep handles CL pressure well in later stages, he is second guessing the team, players and himself. Hope the beating of likes of Dortmund, PSG is gonna be the rule from now on and not the rare exception.

Next year CL will be very hard, Bayern will want to hit back for their QF loss, Juventus will bring in a top manager imo instead of Pirlo, Liverpool will be stronger imo, Barca/Real unsure who they bring in as manager, Chelsea, United could be dangerous.

I mean we all laugh at United, but the way they get results against us in PL regularly, I dont want to meet them in a CL knockout stage at all, I could see Pep underestimating them and they just hit us quickly on counters.
Also Pep potentially bigging them and their history up before we play them, fuck no...

dosnt matter which team we have playing if chenko and strolling are on the pitch starting we have nothing to offer.how many games have we lost with them two starting ,there is nothing going down the left
