What players do you remember and what players do you forget that you remember?

It's funny but I remember Cliff Sear, Dave Bacuzzi and Vic Gomersall better than I remember many of our later players.

But then again, you would need a card index mind to recall all the guys that Billy Mc Neill brought in. But who can forget the wing wizard Gordon Dalziel? Who can remember Duncan Davidson? Did he actually play?

I always forget that Frank Lampard played for us. Feels like a fever dream. Maybe because it was a bit of a shite season overall when he did

A while ago a mate of mine mentioned Tony Scully and for the life of me I could not remember him. I have a pretty decent memory for players so it was a bit of a mystery. Anyway, I looked him up and I must have seen him play as I was as regular a match goer in 1997 as I am now. He must have been really shite, in fact so bad he was completely anonymous to me.

Didn't Justin Fashunu play a couple of games on loan for us in the late 80s?
A few years back I read his biography, which is one of the more interesting footballers biographies I've read. He had a few obstacles to overcome in life after growing up in care he suffered a fair bit of racist and homophobic abuse (and I don't think his brother John was particularly accepting either.)
A useful strikerr undoubtedly (always remember the MOTD goal of the season he got for Norwich against Liverpool) . He didn't seem to really settle for long at any clubs and i'm sure he himself said he was a bit too much of a 'playboy', though it did end very sadly for him.

Pizarro was indeed a talented footballer to get on a short term loan, past his best by then but the quality was still visible.

David Silva was in his 2nd season when Pizarro arrived so I'm a bit sceptical about the passing ability comment. ;-)

I've seen his name in the records but I still cannot remember a single thing about Darren Wassall in a City shirt and I know I was at all the games he's listed as playing in.

The only thing I remember about Pizarro is he scored a good goal against Porto and played some exquisite long range chipped through balls that had the trajectory of a shot from a sand wedge. I think that's what he means as Silva was definitely the better all around passer as was Yaya.

David Cross, sometime around '82 or' 83. And Mark Lillis. Bloody hell. Yes, he was a blue. But he was shite. He trapped the ball further than I could kick it!
Sat in my local in Ramsbottom last year and he joined us at our table for a chat. He showed us his F A Cup winners medal ( won with West Ham ) which he carries in his wallet. Lovely guy and told some great stories.
