What things do you remember from Maine Road?

The Football Pink van. Never been able to find that at CoMS. The Clarence. Abduls. Platt Lane Benches. The alleyways behind the Kippax. The Kippax. The Gene Kelly Stand. The Timpson scoreboard. Paper season ticket books. The bottleneck at the Kippax/North Stand. Mind your car mate? My Dad taking me to the games, RIP.

having a kick about with my lad at the back of the kippax. the four different rooves. beating united for the first time in god knows how many years after neville's pass to goater the hotdogs. the old kippax. the cool cats. the old benches in the platt lane. so many things. gio.

I remember a lad giving out a piece of paper with a song on it:

When I was a lad my dad said to me
are you going down to Wigan to watch the Rugby
I said no i don't think so
cos i'm going down to Maine Road for a bit of aggro.

A different version that took off at some away some time I'm now too old to remember the details of in the early 80's:

When I was a lad, my Dad said to me
Are you going to Wigan to watch the rugby
I said "Fuck off Dad, there's a good chap
I am going to City to have a good scrap"

Then loads of bouncing singing "Na na na na na na" to the same tune.

Not really sure ...... i've a feeling that it might be the 1985 Charlton promotion game.

Many things, some good, some bad, but in retropect all great and part of our recent history...
The smell of cigars at a christmas game.
Dog shit alley, by the school.
Standing for an hour on the kippax and just as the team comes out some six footer stands in front of you.
Walking out of the Kippax tunnels to a night match and seeing the green pitch.
Singing WTFIGO in the late seventies when it became obvious that Swales hadn't a clue.
