What was the best looking fighter and bomber of WW2?

I have a soft spot for the Mossie Predecessor the Westland Whirlwind double engine single seat

The P38 in Natural Metal Finish along with the Super Fortress in the same finish are stunning birds

The Lanc easily wins out of our bombers.

The ME262 though was different gravy though and still looks like it could go like stink now, the Luftwaffe knew how to dress their planes up some of the camo schemes for the different operational theatres are stunning

Avro, who made it, were an Ancoats company. The original bomber was the Manchester bomber and it evolved into the Lancaster.

They were built in Ancoats in the old Brownsfield Mill in the early days but later moved to a larger factory in Chadderton.
Cheers pal,you live and learn every day.I used to live almost next to the Avro factory in Chadderton back in the 80s so obviously knew all about the Lancaster. But I never knew that they had an older factory in Ancoats. I do now though.

Happy to be corrected Kris, cheers. Incredibly brave pilots given the limitations of the biplane.

Absolutely agree!

Strange parallels between then and now Doc, people putting their very lives on the line in defense of Joe Public from a nasty foreign invader, with woefully inadequate equipment, and being considered as the heroes they clearly are!

Loved the chunky look of the FW190 although the 'low-back' late mark Spitfires were beautiful. Agree with the B-29 for the bomber

three Gladiators called Faith, Hope and Charity.
As I mentioned earlier, but have since been corrected, I always believed that they were Fairey Swordfish. I vaguely remember the Faith, Hope and Charity. Were those just three names of a larger fleet? Surely it can't have been just the three of them left could it?
