How much is lee cattermole? He'd be a walking red card in the modern game, £20m at most.
Jimmy greaves would be a fortune. Homegrown and deadly.

Or a bunch of fives...
*Note Terry Venables to the left of Dave Mackay, rushing to keep the peace.
By all accounts Meredith was probably the biggest crowd-puller in that era and his record in his first spell at City suggests a high level of ability, especially considering he played under the old offside law where 3 opponents were needed between the attacker and the goal to be onside.Who was regarded the best player in the 19th century/early 20th. I've had a look online but couldn't really find anything.
Billy Meredith??
Hehe. You didn't fuck with Dave MacKay. Bremner looked like he shat himself.
I think Shilton was underrated by England fans, think he was a brilliant keeper, who went on a bit too long and everyone remembers him at the end (and those woeful penalty attempts in 1990) but 10 years previously he was one of the best in the world no doubt in my mind, its all opinions though.
always preferred Shilton to Clemence for England, would have been nice to have seen our big Joe become regular No1 around 76
In his autobiography, Big Joe claims that it was for political reasons that he was overlooked as England's No. 1, though he didn't elaborate.
never new that but i recall him paying for England v Italy in front of a bumper crowd in New York i think just a friendly, cant remember any other games he played in without doing a search
