Romeo and Juliets, Oldham, 1980. Then went to most of the clubs all over the North West for a good few years every weekend. Monty's in Oldham was a great club until a door war started, Dreamers for a bit of alternative stuff.

The Bali Hai, Coventry. Many of the Manchester clubs mentioned on this awesome thread I went to in my college years. There was one opposite The Old Garratt pub, also opposite The Cyprus Tavern. I was thinking Cloud 9 until someone mentioned it on Cross Stret. Heaven? I liked The Venue, nice atmosphere.

First night out in town was at Chico's Bossanova club somewhere near Victoria station, dunno if it was a "proper" club or some sort of all night cafe. Floor was streaming in discarded chips and sausages and most of the punters seemed to be fat old brass.

First genuine club wasn't far from there, "Time and Place" / "Nice and Easy" on the site that later became Pips on Fennel Street. It was 2 clubs separated by an internal corridor, one entrance was around the corner [Cathedral st??]. I remember going down some stairs after paying to get in and it being very dark with Timmy Thomas's "Why can't we live together" being played. Gotta be around 1972 - 73 ish.
Great memories of the original Placemate too [before Placemate7]. We'd start in The Mitre in Piccadilly, onto a couple of pubs further down towards the station, one had a model train above the bar that I think went around the pub and finish up in Placemate [me, not the train], Bowie and Roxy upstairs and 2 rooms downstairs, John[??] in the soul room and Garry Davies in the other room. Happy Days. Sunday night was Tiffany's on Oxford street. Around that time I worked in Hurley's Golf shop in Piccadilly.
40 fecking years ago, where did it all go.
Loads of places mentioned from those days that I [in a beer filled mist] remember.
Anyone remember The Brown Cow in Slattocks?
