What's the most obscure goal you've seen in a City match in

I saw David Brightwell's only league goal for City against 'Castle. I only went to about 2 or 3 games a season in those days, so it was a happy coincidence that I was there that day.

Niclas Jensen's screaming volley against dirty Leeds.

And short-ass Heath's against Neverton. I don't think he scored again for about 18 months!

Steve Redmond against Luton at Kenilworth Road.
Evans the chairman had banned away support and we had no allocation,I lived in London at the time and went up there on the off chance.
A bloke gave me ticket and it was in the players family section,Redmond equalised and I'd hardly breathed all game and then I went mental, cracking volley if I'm not mistaken.

Jim Melrose's 45 yarder for me.

This was a time when people didn't score from near the halfwayline. It didn't happen except in Roy of the Rovers. Fuck me, even Pele missed when he tried it.

So I'm sat in the Maine Stand with my dad, watching one of the worst games I'd seen up to that point - much, much worse afternoons were to follow.

Then from nowhere Jim Melrose flicked the ball up and scored from just inside Notts County's half. People were talking about that goal for a few years after that game.

Like Swindon in 1965, the 10-1,the Mansfield Autowindscreen game in 1998 and of course, York Away, it's one of those games that lots of people claim they were at when they weren't.

I remember Seaman losing sight of a straight forward catch and blaming the lighting at COMS! Think it was against Lokeren.

Sunny, for and against. I remember Jim Melrose scoring as well (GDM). Also remember a goal against Leeds at Maine Road. Don,t think Leeds had crossed the Half way line all game then, if memory serves, Brian Greenteeth popped it past his own keeper. Sat in the Scoreboard end (or whatever it was called then ) with my leg in a plaster cast after breaking my ankle in the morning at Wythy centre playing 5 a side. Told the nurse I was best man at a wedding and had to be seen straight away. Still be there now probably.

Most bizarrre goal ever scored by City player was when Willie Donachie knocked the ball into his own net from outside the box when playing for Scotland against Wales in 1978.

Redmond pen at Upton Park.

Boot comes off which the keepers saves, ball goes straight down the middle and into the net.

"You'll never make the station" & bright sunshine are the other two lasting memories of that day.
