What's the most shocking thing you've seen?

A man who set himself on fire after arguing with his wife (he died), year after talking to a 13 year old boy who'd been sniffing petrol and then caught on fire, tried to comfort him by talking about the upcoming City vs Utd derby due a few days later (he died not long after), the following year had to to give trauma aid and talk to another man who'd recently split from his wife, again set himself on fire (he died several hours later). The young boy who I still remember his name really affected me if you can imagine a stuntman walking, on fire through the dark that's what we were confronted with, but yet he could still talk to me, very disturbing.

What?

I'm a firefighter mate. Unfortunately some people just think we play snooker and have part time jobs these days.

Was at a Motorbike Race at Oliver's Mount in Scarborough one year. A bloke came off his bike and went down the post and rail fencing which dragged his helmet off. He landed right in front of us. Was awful watching the pool of blood from him getting larger and knowing he was dead. I was amazed how many folk walked over to gawk at him, weirdo's!

Recently, I showed my wife footage of one of those Iraq hostage be-headings. She was really upset and couldn't sleep properly for days. I think for me, it has to be that poor little Chinese girl being run over and ignored by everyone.

And they say romance is dead.

Funny thing is I can't stand snooker lol. On a non related work thing worst I saw was the beheadings of Russian soldiers by Chechnian troops, don't know how anyone human can do that to another.

If there was a referendum on here now regarding Capital Punishment I will put a brand new fiver down that you would vote for it.

I saw a woman get set on fire at a bonfire when I was six. She had hair gel in and they couldn't put it out fast enough. She survived but she needed facial reconstructive surgery. Haunts me to this day and as a result I have a bad fear of being burned.

Also my Mum died in my arms 3 years ago. She practically suffocated. Her heart was failing and the morphine was administered too late. A horrible thing to go through.

Oh and City under Stuart Pearce. That still gives me nightmares. The 0-3 home defeat to Notts Forest.
