What's the most shocking thing you've seen?

I saw a woman get set on fire at a bonfire when I was six. She had hair gel in and they couldn't put it out fast enough. She survived but she needed facial reconstructive surgery. Haunts me to this day and as a result I have a bad fear of being burned.

Also my Mum died in my arms 3 years ago. She practically suffocated. Her heart was failing and the morphine was administered too late. A horrible thing to go through.

Oh and City under Stuart Pearce. That still gives me nightmares. The 0-3 home defeat to Notts Forest.

Sorry about your mum, mate.

On a much less important note Agent Hughes was manager when Forest dicked us 3-0. Oh and don't call them Notts Forest unless you want to annoy them. They fucking hate it.

Pulled some bloated bags of bones out of the water while on exchange with the coastguard. Videos are one thing but hauling 3 week dead bodies that hit the water with enough force to scramble their insides is something different.

There's some f*ckin grim stuff on this thread. I'll have nightmares just reading some of the comments. Thankfully, I've been spared anything nearly as bad as the fire service guy has seen in my life so far - long may that continue.

The emergency services would be paid as much as footballers if there was any sanity in this world.

Witnessing street children in Senegal living their everyday lives. Livingng in squalid, disgusting conditions with dirty water for washing clothes, sleeping in hovels and dealing with all sorts of cuts, gashes and parasites. A way if life I've never seen before and it made me so upset to see kids first hand living in these conditions. Watching sport relief has really brought it back

A man who set himself on fire after arguing with his wife (he died), year after talking to a 13 year old boy who'd been sniffing petrol and then caught on fire, tried to comfort him by talking about the upcoming City vs Utd derby due a few days later (he died not long after), the following year had to to give trauma aid and talk to another man who'd recently split from his wife, again set himself on fire (he died several hours later). The young boy who I still remember his name really affected me if you can imagine a stuntman walking, on fire through the dark that's what we were confronted with, but yet he could still talk to me, very disturbing.

What?
I'm a firefighter mate. Unfortunately some people just think we play snooker and have part time jobs these days.

But you do have a second job though don't you mate? ;-)

Half the stuff we see on sport relief, cant believe what some kids have to go through.

That Chinese girl who was ran over and left for dead almost by 11 people before someone helps, i've never watched anything close to that because I don't get my kicks out of watching shit like that, but that one I will never forget for the rest of my life.
