What's the nicest part of Manchester...

I grew up in west didsbury, smashing place to live, it really was one of those areas where everybody knew each other,. nowadays it full of outsiders.
Not the same place anymore. Most of the lads I knew back then have moved to the Cheadle area, me included.

chorlton and west didsbury are nice, but you get out of area dicks coming into that area, especially didsbury. alderly edge probs

Alderley Edge isn't even in Greater Manchester, never mind Manchester.
what is under then? ive only passed through it, but you hear a lot of things about it being very 'nice'. ill go for didsbury then

I grew up on Alkrington Garden Village. Check me out ;oP It is nice, though, especially up Kingsway/ Mainway and down near the woods.

Thats well posh there.

It's not all great Bob, to be fair, and I'd not go back there because it's 98% retired people or imposing-mortgage-and-nice-young-family types, no use to a weird like me who likes neither mortgages nor children. The public transport is utterly shite and the local night life in Middleton requires a stab vest under your jacket, because it fills with wankers wearing crap shoes and gelled down fringes from Langley. Our street, and most of them around, were great, but probably like anywhere in manc you're not more than about 500 yards away from a rough bit. 'The Downs' housing estate, for example. What a name for a place. Pass the prozac immediately...

Mount road gorton, the only place on earth where even gadaffi didnt want to hide out

I'll have you know that those people you describe are personal friends of mine and I'm keen to grab any opportunity I can to live on Wood Street again!

Fully agree about the transport though. That part of Manchester has been neglected in comparison to other areas. A night out in town had to finish around 11pm unless anyone was driving or we all wanted to share a Taxi. I've largely got fond memories of Midd - but when you grow up somewhere then so much of what someone else describes just doesn't register.

does anyone on here live in areas, like gorton, wythenshawe,? everyone seems to come from areas like didsbury/ wilsmlow- posh bastards ;D
I'm northenden born and bred, also lived in hull and west didsbury

Most of hull is far worse than any Manc area and I should know as I've recently moved to
Benchill and even though it has a reputation it's been fine here and the council place is pretty cheap (less for a 3 bedroom semi than what I was paying for my bedsit in west dids)
