Only just got your post - that was a proper woooooosh moment (that's what you get trying to post on BM whilst Beauty & the Beast is on in your front room at full blast for the amusement of your 2 yr old)........ :-)

I only knew him sporadically through someone else and he used to help me with tickets but would also provide a 'motivational' few words on an accompanying piece of paper if we were on a losing run at the time.

Poynton and Marple Bridge are both "nice" in parts, but not really posh.

Poshest is imo are Mottram St. Andrew, Prestbury and Alderley Edge. Hale in with a shout as well.

Prestbury has gone right down in my opinion, struggling to occupy the shops/ restaurants.
Don’t think anywhere is posh anymore, i chippy around Hale area , lots of new money and wankers around there.

I wish I could remember if Withington in the late fifties early sixties was posh. I remember Grandmothers house was very nice and made of Accrington brick and have vague memories of visiting a park there before the hill people came and took me.
