I grew up in Abbey Hey in the fifties, it was well posh. We even had a Rag & Bone man and the Corona van.

It did, all them old georgian houses were owned by doctors and lawyers, me gran used to say the area was very well off decades ago

My Mother is from Moss Side. My Nan grew up there too and my Grandad is from Cheetham Hill and always said my Nan was posh because she was from Moss Side and said when he moved to Moss Side it was much nicer than Cheetham Hill. My Nan’s Mother was from Newton Heath and said it was a big move to go to Moss Side as it was seen as a step up.

Poshest areas around Greater Manchester...

Didsbury and the Heatons are posher than areas in the Northern part of Altrincham but the South side of Altrincham Town Centre in Bowdon and Hale are definitely the “poshest” in Greater Manchester.
