Whats the poshest Hotel you've stayed in

I've stopped in some fairly posh hotels but most of them don't really have home comforts.

I used to work away most of the time and stayed in some really great B&B's. One in Kilmarnock had a decanter of single malt whisky and another decanter full of port in my room, i felt guilty supping any for the price per night i paid. Landlady couldn't do enough for me and my workmate. We came in one night absolutely soaked and she dried our clothes and made us a brew with biscuits. She also cooked a lovely Scottish breakfast, all for 40 quid a night!

Another great B&B we stayed at was in Malvern. Landlady put me in a posh room with a four poster bed and she'd always make us a brew with a homemade slice of cake when we finished work. She did a cracking English brekkie and also smoked haddock and scrambled eggs, also 40 quid a night.

Those are the kind of places i like over a posh hotel any night of the week.

Anyone do better than sachas..Good memories
Stayed in there when we won league against west ham. Not a hotel but have stayed in Hillsborough Castle Northern Ireland quite a few times when working there.

A few of them don't even have tea and coffee making stuff in the room!

The Ritz I think did this to me.

Definitely. Snobby hotels don’t do it for me at all.

Not the poshest but definitely the maddest was an 'art hotel' on Sicily where each room was a themed art piece. We were in low season so had the choice of a number of rooms we picked one that looked quite cool but subsequently found that what looked like a ships barrel in the centre of the room was actually the toilet. Conventional pair that we were we asked if we could have a room with a bathroom. Ended up in a mostly black room with a pumice wall whose theme was Sicily's volcanic ash, it was a bit mad but quite fun.

Bet it wasn't cheap either.

Some of the big posh hotels are all fur coat and no knickers.

I remember a night with my ex at The 4* Malmaison, Dundee. I think i paid £120 , was ok but not worth it. Ex gf asked for a banana at breakfast as there wasn't any . - "Just a minute madam i think we have some". Waiter came back a few minutes later with an over ripe banana that was brown with a split skin! I took a photo and sent it to their HQ asking if they thought it was acceptable. They said it wasn't and gave me a full refund which i thought was acceptable. Won't be staying with them again because they charge too much for what you get.

When I worked in India I used to get to stay in the pretty luxurious hotels around New Delhi's diplomatic enclave. A bit offset by the slightly unnerving number of automatic weapon toting guards and military around the places.

The best thing about a posh Indian hotel was if you found yourself with a bad bug the bathrooms were as large and well appointed as asome normal hotel rooms so having to live in the bathroom for 3 days wasn't quite as bad as it would otherwise have been!
