whats with the bee ?!?!

Anyone remember the "Manchester-it's begining to buzz" slogan in the late 80's early 90's?

I love the fact Umbro sat down with the scum and left us for them years ago. Strange how things turn round. All City fans should knowa little Manchester history and they would know about the Bees.

I'm sorry I lead a sheltered life... I will sit all day today and research the Bee's in Manchester. I hang my head in shame I'm 31 and didnt know a thing about my fair City (the place not the team).
*phones parents to kick off*
I blame the schools, Lol

Lol, your probably right though. Thinking about it I have seen the Bee's but never paid much attention to them, and on the Boddies add's etc too. Make sence now like but hey you learn something new every day they say.

The Bee symbol comes form the days of the Industrial Revolution and was meant to symbolise Manchester as a 'hive of activity'

This mosaic is in Manchester Town Hall and if you look around you'll find it all over the place in town.

was at My nephews wedding reception last year at the town hall...bee mosaics everywhere on the floor.

I'm not from Manchester but I think it is really fantastic that the club and Umbro have decided to reinforce this link with the city's history. It ties in nicely with the "This is our city" campaign of a two or three years (and City boards!) ago and also City in the Community (and even the Junior Blues, too).
I notice too that Umbro are to make a £100,000 donation to "Manchester culture" as part of the deal, also. Presumably, City will not be remiss in their contributions either. These things are to be applauded and in a very tangible way, set Manchester City Football Club apart from the common herd.
A common refrain in all of the hoopla regarding the takeover was "City will lose their soul". Many said it with ill-concealed glee and barely restrained jealousy. Let's be honest though, we all feared it to some extent. Another stick to beat the nouveau riche is the "you've got no history" - something which anybody with even a passing knowledge of football could never level at MCFC (not that that will stop them, mind). Initiatives like those outlined above will go along way towards silencing the badminded and the ignorant.
If we never win a trophy again (God forbid!!!), the board are to be congratulated and thanked for adopting this approach.

Now, would somebody please print the above off, frame it and shove it up Michel Platini's hole!

Being the truly revered historian that i am, i think you'll find it actually stems from them supporting Oasis at COMS in 2005.

A concerted effort to establish once and for all that MCFC is IN Manchester, OF Manchester and FOR Mancunians. Every little helps. (And I don't work for Tesco).

Second point, not a grey kit please. I'm laughing again at Soton v. MANUre. Remember that grey kit they had - 25 nil at halftime, wasn't it? Couldn't see their own players - should have been able to smell 'em though!
