What's worse, horrifying relegation battles or terrifying title chases?

We’re all different, but from my point of view I simply love title races like this. The combination of every game mattering, the thrill of chasing/being chased, this wonderful group of players delivering (so far) every time, and the weather improving/the days getting longer and longer all combine to make me feel so alive.

And the jeopardy of it all definitively plays a part too, because without that it wouldn’t matter as much, or feel as good to succeed at the end of it.

Winning the title like we did in 2012, 2014, 2019 and 2022 has to represent the pinnacle of being a football supporter. Most fans don’t experience that once, never mind on multiple occasions.

I simply don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t enjoy such an experience. Even if we fall slightly short this season, if we go on and win every PL game and Arsenal hold on I know I’ll still have loved the ride and the emotions it will inevitably throw up. So personally, I simply love the run-in, and the tenser the better, with 2019 representing the apex, although this season could still top it.

As a football supporter it doesn’t get any better than this, and because it won’t last forever I fully intend to make the most of every moment. I think it’s a bit of a shame that others don’t seem to enjoy it as much as I do, but like I said, we’re all different.
Summed up really well for me. Also being in two other major comps in the latter stages is brilliant. Premier League today to try to get within hurting distance of Arsenal. Champions league away at Bayern for a place in the semi finals and a an FA cup semi final next Saturday. What a week and I'm lucky enough to be at all three! Can't wait

Relegation was weird. It kept me awake while the battle was on but once confirmed there was that overwhelming pleasure (or hope) of seeing the lazy, useless players booted out over the summer and the realisation that we’d finally see some goals and easier fixtures in the upcoming season.

Currently though, we know if we don’t win the title this year we should be around next time so I am quite relaxed and just enjoying the games. Arsenal fans will be twitching I reckon.

Didn't expect much anticipatory pre- match day horror this, season even as recently 3 weeks ago. More mediocrity and maybe an FA Cup Final. I certainly wasn't worried about having to dive behind the sofa at odd moments or por accidently on purpose sit on the remote for 10 seconds at deliberately convenient moments of potential
horror just to to turn the TV off as if that somehow stops potential disaster.. But you have to be grateful,, innit, 'cos the alternative is worse. So I prefer the horror of the title chase.what do others think?
Even if we won nothing this season I wouldn’t say it was ‘mediocrity’ I know you mean by our own high standards btw, if we did fall away in every comp (highly unlikely) I would still look back on this season with fondness, watching Pep wrangle with the raging bull that is his team of 2022/23 taming it, and riding it on to potential greatness, has been an absolute pleasure to witness, he won’t get the credit he deserves from outsiders, even if he did the treble, but we know. Give me title chases any day over relegation battles, but both make you feel alive

Absolutely spot on.

I don't understand the original question to be honest as a relegation battle is a totally different proposition. I still remember sitting in the main stand crying after the Luton game all those years ago and never wish to experience that again.

If Arsenal persevere and win it I'll congratulate them as deserving champions and the day after I'll be anticipating the fight for the next season.

I love it myself.

Stunned at Luton. Sad as fuck drawing against the Dippers. You could see the 3rd division coming as we were shite that season. But you get the wonderful winning loads of games and going back up. Now there is a lot of pressure to win win win but thankfully we are able to do that. THANKFULLY we never stayed in the lower divisions. Just a quick visit and fook off back up. See Leeds and Forest.

Relegation all day. The consequences for getting relegated are 100x worse than missing out on a title (though perhaps 2012 excepted).

Interesting point made above about us never (in recent times) failing to win a proper title race where things in the balance in final couple of weeks. Was talking the other week about final days being great for us (at the final whistle, anyway).

Also interesting (as mentioned) that we never stayed up on the final day, when it was still to play for. When we 'avoided' relegation it was sorted by the final week...but 90, 94, 95, 04 and 07 still felt pretty real for me at the time!

i said this a few years ago, as nervy as title races are, its more a determination to win, but the raw fear of a relegation battle and the consequences it may bring are far worse

but maybe im just a jeopardy junkie
