Whats your mood regarding City right now?

Oh and I'm still buzzing about us winning another trophy as I thought we might be having a couple of years without anything. If we get a run together then we might still be in with an outside chance of nicking it. Leicester will have a blip and the London boys will too. This could be our blip and hopefully we come out of it with us near or at the top. Always half full is my glass.

Get in, as good a shape as possible, hopefully in a CL place

See the movers and shakers over the summer

off we go again, with hope in our hearts

A bit of perspective needed - I like most blues am dismayed by certain performances this season and just when I think that the players have recovered some form we have a display like Wednesdays, where not one of the team stood up, not one played well. I don't buy into the tired excuse or injuries. What I do think is that for some reason the last 20 games or so have seen us on a downward trend, odd performance excepted the truth is we are a shadow of the team that started the season. The reason? I for one believe that the squad knew about Pellegrini leaving way before the announcement. Some of the squad know that they have no future at the club and as a result they have not put in the desired effort. I think most of us would have thought that the prospect of being coached by one of the world's best would be motive enough. Sadly it seems that some players are resigned to their fate rather than try and show reasons why they should be integral to the future. Such is player power these days it doesn't matter if they don't illustrate to prospective employers how good they are, they will always find another club.

Now the positive - I really believe that with the addition of just one or two major signings alongside a bit of youth, coupled with great coaching the reset button will be pressed. It really is not as bad as it seems and those who stay particularly the likes of Sergio, DeBryune, Sterling and Hart will go on to reach new heights. Joe for example is a curious case - I have watched him ping passes to within a few feet consistently during warm-ups and training and yet in a game situation he seems hesitant - This is something a great coach can easily resolve without having to replace him. He will improve very quickly under Pep who will demand he has the confidence to distribute quicker and better. In other words I don't think we need to buy a whole new team - look at Leicester who playing in a set format with clear coaching has suddenly made them look decent. I like Manuel but I firmly point the finger at his methods, when he was appointed I was hoping that he would unearth another Isco and when I saw his Malaga team I was amazed by their high press and fitness - It's as if by having much better players to work with nullified his setting the team up correctly - when they have worked harder we look unbelievable but sadly too many times we look second best and I have never seen a team lose possession from nearly every throw in they take but that's another story.

In short I'm glad he won his trophy this year but I can't wait to move on and it will not need great surgery to have us purring again.

That's an interesting point you raise about his high press, fit Malaga team.
I'd forgotten that it was one of reasons I was excited about him coming because opponents had begun to suss out Mancini's possession game.
But as you say maybe with the players he inherited and with the double winning first season that style of play probably seemed unnecessary and disruptive. Perhaps he should have tried to introduce it gradually and get a better balance between pressing and possession.
Too late now.

last night I felt sick, this morning I was pissed off still, this afternoon ive started to get that lovely glow again, and by tomorrow morning I will love them even more than the day before

I thought about this for a few moments and remembered that:

A) We are cup Champions
B) the best manager in world football will be leading our team next season;
C) we've won Several competitions from schools to youth levels;
D) we are about to go further in the champs league than ever before
E) we are not ManU; and
E) Willy Caballero silenced his critics.

I think we are doing better than OK!

I said this over on another thread but il say it on my own one:

We are going through a very unique situation where by everyone knows the manager is leaving and exactly who replacing him. I think this hasn't helped us. Pellers has been given lots of stick but he has just won us another cup and more or less already got us to our first ever CL quarter final. I think we will start to pick up points again not only finish top four but also be in with a shout of the league title. Everyone needs to take a step back and look at what a great situation we are actually in currently AND what a fantastic looking future we have.

Chill blues, we have Kompany.

I would love to say that I share your belief and enthusiasm, but the two performances against Liverpool in the league have been nothing short of a disgrace and an embarrassment. This team has under performed so badly that it beggars belief, and from supporting Pellegrini, I am now convinced that he isn't able to inspire the players .

Coupled with some piss poor signings, as I think Otamendi is a reckless and ill disciplined car crash of a defender , and never a £30 million defender fit for the PL. The difference between the EPL and Spanish/Portugese leagues must be massive.

I feel sorry for Sterling , who I believe has had to deal with the shocking and pathetic sh*t from the Liverpool mafia and shite supporters, but after a really heavy tackle in the first few minutes, he was lost to the game.

Bony coming on to replace Fernandinho was a f*cking joke, and one that removed one of our better players and replaced him with another liabilty .

So I honestly don't know where do you get your optimism from ? Unless the players and Pellegrini quickly up their game dramatically, the Swamp Jockeys will be on our f*cking tails as we continue in free fall mode.

Absolutely p*ssed off with last night's pathetic showing .

Last week I was thinking that this has the feel of 1974 about it: aging team, struggling in the league, manager about to be shown the door, reaches the LC final (lost that year) but still above the rags!

In 1974 some of the team survived and won the LC in 1976 but for others it marked the end of the road. We're in a similar position now but at a lot higher level. For a start we won on Sunday and like you I'm really pleased about that. We are currently 4th in the league and like you I've not given up hope of winning it albeit we're very much odds against at this stage. In 1974 we finished 14th. In 1974 Tony Book replaced Ron Saunders as manager this time we are waiting for Pep. We didn't do too badly in the years immediately following 1974, this time the potential is unlimited. I'm normally a glass half empty guy but we're actually in a very, very strong position.

Just had this appear in my inbox from the MCFC supporters club......... Sums up my feelings precisely, we've been there before 'Typical City' we'll be back.......

'TYPICAL CITY

Winning away in Europe one day, losing to title rivals another. Winning a trophy one day getting smashed by the team we've just beaten at Wembley the next.

We've got plenty of new fans of course but for those of us who are seasoned Blues we all know this is typical City and we could finish in a Europa League spot or we could even go on a run and still win the title outright. Anything is possible with this team.

...

So let the media say what they want and let other fans say what they want. Who cares ? We're Blues and we're proud of it. Let's get behind them as we have key games now during the run-in.

We have displays lined up against Villa and Kiev. The Villa one is the one that we hoped to do on valentines day but there was an issue with one of our banners. For Kiev we expect to be marching on to the quarter finals so we want to push a positive atmosphere. Up to the individual if you wish to boo Uefa's anthem but we feel our point has been made so we'll be pushing for fans to sing "Blue Moon" during the anthem instead.

We now have the support of over 100 other fan groups across Europe who are joining us in pushing Uefa to change their minds. So we'll continue to press in private.

Things can change round quickly in the league and these players have been there done that and got the t-shirt so win or lose ... UP THE BLUES

ps... We could do with some help before the derby putting our display out. Will mean an early start on the Sunday morning - if you can help please mail us - the1894group@yahoo.co.uk'

Talksport is on at the moment with the 2 Luminaires of Gough and the other prick laying into City - FFS Blues don't bite!! just about to click it off!!!

Damn right we are, if we beat villa Saturday well be on 50 pts and this after either spurs and arsenal have dropped points. Leicester go to Watford which will be tough but I got this weird feeling that the three teams above us are going to have a blip, allowing us to get our foot back in the door. I'll even go as far as saying it could go down to last day shenanigans again. Keep being positive as we've been here before and come with a late charge when we'd been written off. It's going to be exciting that's for sure.

Still over the moon about the cup win our 5th trophy in 5 years. The world's most coveted manager arriving in June with an open chequebook.

I'm happy as fuck.

... yawn ...

thats my mood about City at the moment, not about this thread (just to be clear)

Spot on sir, my thoughts as well, city have gone backwards under pellegrini, very average players brought in for silly money, big big job for Pep when he comes in, hope he is as good as every one says he is.
