When did English football clubs stop playing dinosaur football?

Klopp still at it. Hit it long and early into the channel for Salah
Rubbish...its rock and roll football...we just dont understand it :-)....

To be fair, we were shocking to watch around 1992, hoof up to Quinny and him nod it on for Whitey...look at some of the footage...no midfield play, just full backs not even looking up just chipping it up to Quinny.
Quinn and White were good at it to be fair so I loved it at the time , but when you look now good its awful!

Remember battering Leeds a couple of times and we lauded it is as performances of the season...watch the football tho through todays specs, its bloody dreadful!! :-))

Love Gerald Stinstads comment on 0:21 "The freekick was fairly basic" understatement of the year!! to be fair Geralds vision had been tainted by his wankathon in the porn cinema the night before...

OK sorry forgot Ian Brightwells goal was in there, which to be fair was very good.

Is there anything really wrong with dinosaur football anyway?

Hoof it up to the big man up-front, get someone running off him into the space in behind, lay it off, run at the goal, smash it, bosh!

Great footage there ..some top players on view..Kevin Hector and Roger Davies both had very decent goals per games records
Brilliant finish by Jimmy Greenhoff, after a great cross from Geoff salmon, hard working midfielder of the day..as was Archie gemmill taking a shot at his future team mate Peter Shilton, who had Colin Todd and Roy McFarland in front of him.

The crosses from both Hinton and Salmon cause panic in the respective penalty areas because despite the mud,..both men deliberately looked at hooking the ball high, away from the keeper to the back post....knew what they were doing.
Lovely back heel from Alan Hudson to Salmons.
Great celebration by Derby mental crew on the terrace.
Different era. Enjoyed that.

After one of those finals the Pisscan said: “Faced with football like that, there is nothing you can do.”
Ferguson was a great manager and motivator but not even the most biased United fan would claim he was a great coach. His best United teams played a rigid 442 formation with the ball hoofed into the channels and fast counter attacks. Nothing wrong with that but he never changed and the main reason he had success was he bought all the best players. His teams were also the best teams in the world at set pieces.
Pep is on a different level. He has already developed three different styles at City in his seven years. In tactical terms he is a genius. Pep takes more risks and that's why we win more matches and score a lot more goals than any English team in history.

Football like everything else evolves. The football we see now from across the world is generally faster and technically better than it was. Players are so much fitter that it allows for this. England has had a few managers that have shown it can be done and br successful. Pep is right up there, but it didn’t start nor will it stop with him. Playing attractive aggressive football is the new norm. Unless you live in Stoke, obviously.
Will you be starting a thread entitled "when did scottish clubs stop playing Dinasour Football"....or not ; )

Can you remember Ferguson's Aberdeen and their playing style?
Was it the same style he used at utd..
I can only remember watching a European final when they won,and match highlights / goals around that time,so unsure if his former team were outright entertainers or workaday runners.
